It was far more nearer to a 3-4-3, simply because both full backs spent their average time away from our penalty - for once acting like wingbacks should.

I'd say it was more of a 3-4-1-2 system

Who is the third striker that you've seen?

Looked like a 3-4-1-2 to me too, but difference with Tuesday and Saturday appears to be Walker was happy to drop very deep from that attacking midfield role at times, whereas I'm not sure Clark Oduor ever did? He seemed to be attacking non-stop on the highlights, but then we did win 5-1...

Walker plays as a deep striker or pulls out wide creating space for the other two. Its important to drag the opposition out of the middle for them Alexander himself said it was a favoured formation rather than 5-3-2 and interesting more sides are playing this way at a higher level

I wouldn't say Walker is playing in an attacking role, but more of a midfielder who gets forward to join in. He is covering the right or interchanging with Gilliead and coming to the left with Smallwood sitting more centrally. Without the ball, you could argue it's more of a 5-3-1-1 as Smith drops back in behind Cook but as we go forward, it's more of a 5-3-2, in my opinion

It's definitely 2 up front, 3-4-3 was what Hughes was playing at the start of the season (though it often looked more like a 5-4-1 in his hands!) same as Englad do with one main centre forward with wingers / wide forwards either side

Same first 11 and subs as Saturday. Again, I'm fine with it for the most part, but it's established that Pointon is fit and healthy, so why is Osadebe on the bench, but Pointon isn't? It's not really a smart move by GA if he wants to keep the fans onside. Lose tonight, and he will probably get abused for it.

Hopefully his season doesn't go full Reece Staunton.

Osadebe has place in this formation, Pointon has to change to play in this formation. Also giving the ball away on the edge of the area of Notts County's 4th will be in Alexander's mind. He needs to learn that there's a time and a place to play and take risks and he's been caught out a few times on the edge of the area. No player is bigger than the team.

Think osadabe has played right wing back in the past for walsall. So cover for haliday. Only reason I can think of. I'd play Pointon right wing back b4 osadebe personally ha.

What position can Osadebe play that Pointon can't? There isn't one, in my opinion

Yeah Alexander pretty much confirmed as much after the last game, that his selection is based on who suits the formation.

It will be a huge shame if Pointon loses momentum and doesn't feature in this system. Although saying that, despite playing out wide for us, he's not an out and out winger, and thrives making clever runs and having imaginative skill in tight areas. With the right coaching I feel there's a place for him as a part of a midfield 3.

So are you saying Pointon having the ball taken off him is the reason we lost at Notts County? Are you also saying that after the ball was lost no other Bradford City player was in a position to make a challenge on the Notts County players?
Are you also saying the experienced Players like Walker for example didn’t get the ball taken off him.

If Alexander said that then he's talking out his arse. Good managers find spaces for good players. There's no reason why Pointon can't fit in the centre in place of Walker or Gilliead. To not have him on the bench is ridiculous

That's not what I said at all. Nowhere did I say anything that suggested anything like that. Walker didn't have the ball taken off him on the edge of his own penalty area.
