I think we could credit Stuart with the Vukic signing from his contacts at Rangers The goalkeeping coach brought Doyle in Vincelot was definitely Abbott and we can thank the chairman for bringing back Cullen

All the bad ones were Edin and any one who was half decent was McCall.

I don't think I've ever quoted McCall had no say in any transfer dealings, I was quoted he was one of three who were responcable for transfer dealings.
But as they didn't have time to get that up and running during the first closed season I'd suggest it made sense to let Stuart get on with identifying targets and getting them signed up, then when Greg came onboard he added his expertise.

for the record, I am absolutely sick to death of talking about Stuart McCall's tenure now but he gets so much disrespect for a club legend from supposed fans of this club that it's hard to not retaliate.

why can't we all just admit he did a good job, and move on. trying to discredit him when we blatantly had a good side and did really well that first season in particular, and that he took last season's team of complete wasters into the play offs and kept them there until he was fired it's just completely disrespectful to him and deluded.

I do credit him for a very good first season under very difficult circumstances. We played some good football. I think he played the wrong tactics in the play off final.
He started the second season very well but just as he did the first time he was here he cracked when things started going wrong.

It's called a Catharsis Ricc, mean to be a healthy response in certain situations.

He did a fantastic job and kept the ball rolling with the club going forwards.

But we were always going to have a period of transition when the last squad was finally broke up as it had been together for a few years, in particular the back four.

It just annoys me how he is absolved of all blame and it’s always poor Stuart he didn’t get what he wanted and if we had given him this budget etc.

He deserves respect and he is a hero at this club and he was harshly treated when he left as no time to get his new recruits in training after January but each spell he had at the club we signed some dealt garbage. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

As you say, tired of it now but we do need some balance from both sides when we discuss his time here. He wasn’t the best and he certainly wasn’t the worst.

Which is true, but then, Phil Parkinson signed some right crap while he was in charge aswell.
Sir Alex Ferguson has an extensive list of absolutely rubbish signings at Man Utd.
    every manager signs some duds.

Randomly throwing around transfer fees in the region of £100-200k on poor-average lower league players is a bizzare transfer policy which McCall throughout his entire managerial career hasn't used. For him to suddenly decide that it's the way forward for Bradford City would be a bit odd. Rahic/Rupp on the other hand came into the club , started throwing transfer fees around all willy nilly and have deemed Jacob Hanson and Kai Bruenker transfer fee worthy. I've said it before, all 3 are in some way responsible for last years recruitment but when you look at history, the main perpetrator behind spending £0.5M on Reeves, Poleon and Mcarten is glaringly obvious, especially when they all coincidently came under a certain age bracket which conveniently fits the model Edin wanted to adopt.

I will however give him credit for the recruitment this season. He, along with Abbott, Collins and Drury have done an excellent job. The only question mark I have is strength in depth, but on an individual basis, the quality of our signings have been spot on.

You know this to be true do you or just your opinion ?.
I'll raise you Grayson, Heckingbottom, Ferguson, Lambert, Stam, Allardyce, Moyes, Bilic, all managers out of work, and many highly regarded.

And for convincing Mark Marshall his future was at Valley Parade under himself for the coming season, we can debate all day who brought who in but I'll say again there was very little time to bring players in during that closed season so as I've posted credit to both Stuart and Greg for their efforts that season.
Just how you come to the concusion Edin brought Cullen back is a strange one, surely he would have asked his manager and the Head of Recruitment/Chief Scout if they wanted him back, or are you suggesting Edin did it without consulting anyone ?.

He started the second season extremely well considering he wasn't wanted at the helm by the owners. The pressure must have been intense on SM from his achievements the season before, the weakening of the football team and a management that did not want him.

And imo he was right not to walk. I would not have. The responsibility was on the owners to take control of the situation .

    I know I saidI wouldn't......

But the difference is Parkinson got us to the League Cup Final, FA Cup quarter final and promotion, Sir Alex Ferguson ... well do I really need to spell it out?

McCall in 5 seasons made a Play Off Final... and lost.

No one, not even me, would question him as a playing legend but as a manager his record is at best patchy, good statistically but wins nothing and, as an earlier poster pointed out, when things go badly (as they always do for every team and every manager at some point) he cracks way too easily.

    Back in my box .,.

    Yours, as always, lovingly,

    Norman
