I'd categorise Alexander as the safe option and you can fully understand why Sparks thinks that is the correct route right now. I'm not too concerned about his struggles at MK Dons - we know more than most that sometimes a manager or player just doesn't fit with a football club. It seems pretty clear that's what happened in his short time there.

Its a pretty strong CV when you take MK out of it and I like the fact he'd be joining the club with a point to prove rather than someone like Grayson or Adams where it felt like they thought they were doing us a favour. If its Alexander and he can achieve something like the high win %'s that he's achieved elsewhere previously, then we might be able to recover something from this season after all.

 

1 and 2 absolutely.

No 3, I'm not too bothered about the half way line but we need people outside the box to either collect the cleared corners or at least put pressure on those looking to return the ball back into the box.

I'm ok with GA I think. The more I read the more it convinces me he just wasn't a good fit for MK which happens to all managers.

Regardless though, whoever it is will get my support.

What a boring appointment Graham Alexander would be. His teams have played pragmatic, turgid football, and his success is pretty much limited to getting a bankrolled Fleetwood side out of league two (almost ten years ago), and a bankrolled Salford side up through the Conference play offs. Sparks has bottled it and gone safety first - an appointment that will keep us safe from relegation but unlikely to threaten the play off spots, and present us with pragmatic (i.e. boring) football in the process.

I hope the guy does well and good luck to him. You can be sure of one thing, as soon as it’s announced there will be many ,” he’s this, he’s that”, “not good enough”, “lousy record” et al, et al, et al..

I can name em now, I just wish they would give them a chance lasting more than 6 weeks!
