Next manager

When the Cowleys took the Lincoln job their families moved there soon after. When they took the Huddersfield job their families remained in Lincoln. Unfortunately when they moved to Portsmouth their families moved too. They made it clear they would not move the families again for a few years because of the stage of the children's education.

There are not many managerial posts near Portsmouth. I thought they might even have taken the Eastleigh job a few weeks ago. Not a big club even by National League standards but right on the doorstep and with an owner prepared to invest some of the money he made out of us into The Spitfires. Realistically the Cowleys have to take a job which will mean living away from their families. Many managers, to say nothing of other trades, have to do so. I think even Danny Cowley would have blushed at talking of his fourteen year old daughter's tears with a "Daddy please don't go".

If he turns up at Lincoln shortly it'll be clear just how much "family matters" influenced his u-turn forty-eight hours ago.

 

Good read but for Gregory to accuse him of letting his wife dictate (you could see who wears the trousers in the Unsworth household) is a nonsense, any man worth his salt would openly admit the missus wears the trousers, maybe occasionally as with every other man David didn't want her to be wearing trouser .

 

What difference does it make family reasons or a better offer from a club higher up or a bit of both. He changed his mind move on

The main asset this club has is the large number of fans. We use that to lever commercial and sponsorship details. If you take those numbers away, and the ST income, we’re left with absolutely nothing but rent to pay on a ground we don’t own. We suddenly have less bargaining power on the commercial side, and the empire falls apart.

Rupp is supposedly pricing interested parties out a sale but he’d be forced into selling at a lower price without the comfort of the ST revenue.

Make no mistake. A boycott would absolutely cripple his investment here.
