In the interview he mentioned it was thinking about his 14 year old daughter - everyone seems to be suggesting he did accept the job, maybe she was just really upset when she found out he had so she'd hardly be seeing him over the next 18 months until we sacked him and Cowley decided he didn't want his daughter to be upset with him. There doesn't need to be a conspiracy with everything

 

How and why would he have had that revelation after he accepted the job but not before? Doesn't make sense

 

Of course it bloody matters you fool. The entire handling of this situation has been a farce from start to finish. Hanging Kev McD out to dry, chosen candidates doing u-turns, failed manager after failed manager, minimum communication to the fans. But it is all going fantastic cos they have secured another sponsorship deal for the bins(!)

I hope I'm wrong and it's all just an unforseeable family situation but this Cowley decision does rather remind me of when Grayson saw what was going on behind the scenes and opted for unemployment over City.

 

No it hasn’t if true they were our first choice. The caretaker did a reasonable job with four wins in all competitions they have chosen to change their minds it’s a matter of another week. Get over that Spain trip it real,y has frazzled your brain

 

Don't be daft man. Do you honestly believe that the first his wife and family knew about him applying was when he got the job and that she said no or put pressure on him to turn it down. ? Of course not. He's a football man and his wife knows what goes with that territory, and was happy to move north when he went to Huddersfield & as far south as you can get when he went to Portsmouth.

He also knows that when this came out he wouldn't be covered in glory if he'd accepted. Do you think he might have applied on the off chance, never expecting to get the job ? There is no chance of that, He will have talked it over with his family, and applied with their full blessing and a plan in place for where they live etc, knowing full well that if he applied he would be pretty much odds on to get it.

There is only three logical explanations for this.

The first is that he wanted the job, saw the challenge, had his family 100% behind him but has since realised what an absolute clusterf@ck this club is from top to bottom (or his brother did).

The second is that we refused to take him and his brother as a partnership (which wouldn't surprise me) and he's declined on the principle that his brother is part of his team.

The third is that he's been offered a job elsewhere (possibly Lincoln) and that is either better terms or he's realised they are better run.

David Blunkett could see through the "family reasons" explanation.

In fairness, the most likely explanation is that he's had his head turned by another team

Yeah, I got a text yesterday morning saying he was meant to be announced Tuesday at 6pm, he gave backword at 2pm. I wont say what I replied with.

As I say what does it matter if he has decided to go back to the scene of his best years in management at Lincoln who are in a league above that is quite understandable. And if he waits for a team further south that’s understandable. People give backward all the time for jobs. Just move on.

 

I agree with you on his head being turned, I honestly can't see it being owt to do with his family

 

You have to wonder what sort of money these guys get paid if they can turn jobs down because of the clubs geographical position on the map, very similar to players making the comment I want to be nearer home, you know what the job entails when you apply, I smell bull sh1te awaits the announcement of them returning to Lincoln.

 

About as lame as they come. Obviously didnt drive round Huddersfield before he took their job, because that hole is consistently voted as one of the worst places to live in the UK alongside Luton. Didn't stop Nathan Jones taking the Luton Job, and it's not going to stop him taking the Millwall job, despite Bermondsey & New Cross being sh!tholes.
