Next manager

We would need to appoint a true manager to help us get there.

I've never met the guy, but from what I've seen and heard of interviews with him, I would only take a job working for Ryan Sparks if I were starving and homeless. He's the nearest real life version of David Brent I've ever seen and is clearly drowning in the job he's been asked to do.

We need John Dewhirst to get on a plane to Munich and tell Rupp that he needs to bring in a proper football CEO before we end up with Trueman as manager again.

Don't be daft. What Sparks would do is give him a two year contract and sack him at the end of the season.

 

Clemence is off to the Gills-could have been we had him lined up?

I fear if Sparks does not make a appointment by early next week he will put Trueman in charge till the end of season
That could mean another waisted transfer window & another waisted season
Season tickets will drop dramatically at what ever price
Rupp's tenure & Sparks time as CEO will definitely be in trouble

 

It wouldn't just be a wasted season it would be relegation

We've already seen what an incompetent CEO can do, and that one was sacked by December and still had us relegated

Cowley now odds on -

 

He's now 1/2 on the live market, Holden is 2/1 then Alexander and Richardson at 8/1. Cowley is also fav for the Lincoln job at 7/4. Neither of the 2 really linked to any other role apart from Holden is at 12/1 for the Bristol R job.

 

I've lost hope of the Cowleys coming to Bradford City. I will be astonished if they aren't back at Lincoln City within days.

One thing this saga has shown anyone who didn't already know is what a waste of time and space new manager betting odds are, except on rare occasions like Williamson being 1/6 within hours of Alexander's sacking at MK Dons.

 

That's too bad, as he's the one I would have got behind. Young, wants to cut his teeth in management, good coaching background, ex player, understands the modern game. I REALLY don't know what Sparks is wanting and waiting for. My only conclusion, is that Rupp has such lack of engagement, he's not willing to push the boat out for a new manager who wants investment in players and facilities, and therefore Sparks has got his hands tied when it comes to saying what we can provide the new manager when interviewing them. Explains why some (apparently) have walked away. A Warnock style boss would be right up Rupps street, as the only investment he probably demands, is extra elbow grease. Big Sam too. What's Gary Megson doing these days?

 

Not so sure they've beaten us at the last minute. Apparently Steve Bruce recommended him to the Gills after he'd been in talks with them about taking over himself so the interest seems to have been there from the Gills before us. If Clemence was also considered by us, I hope it wasn't because Sparks was trying to get one over on the Gills after what happened in the summer but equally, it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

He's been linked with Gills for days so it's unlikely he was ever close to the Bradford City job.

Going for tested or untested it's a gamble. Previous success is no guarantee of the same in the future-Derek Adams.
Clemence could do what McKenna has at Ipswich or be yet another coach who couldn't manage. I hope he does well as I backed Gillingham ante-post despite Harris.

 

Williams was all set to sign for us and then at the 11th hour, decided to sign for the Gills instead. It would be extremely petty to try and get back at the Gills by poaching their new head coach and I am not saying that is what happened, just that it wouldn't surprise me if it had because nothing surprises me about this football club anymore.
