Gillingham fans seem convinced he's on the way there. Not a good choice in my opinion but he's a Medway man.

I’d give him a go until a review at Xmas , one defeat doesn’t mean anything, especially when the entire portion of the midfield was missing .

I bet it’s a very low percentage of managers last two years or more so 15 months is a long time in a managers life. But those Stats show changing Manager mid season statistically doesn’t work

We're certainly in sacking season, I'm losing count. Barton was very lucky to have an owner who stood by him through some "difficult days". But I believe Wael al-Qadi is no longer the major shareholder and Barton's luck has run out.

I doubt they will have looked at all mitigating factors that prevent clubs from gaining promotion. I strongly suspect that there are many reasons why a manager parts company with the club, and many of them are still there when the new man takes over. It would be interesting to see how many of them are successful in their second season once they have sorted what was wrong. Then there are those like ours that continue to fail despite money and resources being made available.

TBH I would take 8% right now, as my view is that our chances of gaining promotion this season somewhere near 1%. Unless they intend to hire a magician.

Do they? Only if you take them in isolation and don't actually delve any further, as I suggested above.

The only reason I'm against it is Kev himself saying that he doesn't want the job permanently.

Perhaps that's different behind the scenes but if it's true and he's really not looking at management then we should absolutely be letting him get back to playing and bring in whoever we feel is the best fit for the club.

MH was the 30th longest serving in the 92 and he was on 18 months.
The vast majority don't last 2 years.

Agree, but I would like him to manage us at least to Christmas. So unless the management team are bringing in a manager currently employed what is on the horizon is no better than Kev.

I'm not sure why this is relevant. Is supporting or against the decision to sack Hughes?

That’s maybe all spin Dave. The only way we know for certain is if he is named as boss. If not we will never know if he applied and didn’t get it or he didn’t apply in the first place. .?

Yes but the fact remains that getting rid of a sitting manager mid season didn’t bring success to that club that season. It may increase the chances over a longer period but there is a massive turnover of managers anyway

When Sparks parted company with MH’s a little over three weeks ago, it was interesting that he overlooked the current coaching set-up, and went for a senior player to take over for the interim.

KM has had coaching experience with the U18’s and U21’s at Fulham, however RS’s must have seen enough in him, to hopefully pick up a steady stream of points until such time a replacement could be found. The sudden upturn in performances gave RS’s much needed breathing space

We’ve heard nothing or very little of Sparks thoughts since, is KM in RS’s thoughts as one of the potential candidates, was he at the time when the role was given to him?

Or was he only there (particularly as KM said he was wanting to concentrate on playing) solely as a stop-gap.

Of the little we know, we do know interviews have been on-going, rumours circulating as the bookies odds on Cowley and Holden fluctuate.

What we don’t know is RS’s intentions.

KM has made it very hard to be overlooked,

Bizarrely enough the mid-week abject defeat may have again worked in RS’s favour, it’s stopped the clamour for KM to be made permanent a little quieter, therefore if RS’s has decided already to look elsewhere, then the defeat takes the pressure from Sparks somewhat in his choice, without risking the wrath of the fans.

I’d expect the announcement to be made ( unless of course we’re chasing a currently contracted manager) next week, if not, we’ll possibly see impatience growing amongst the fan-base.

The one manager who I think could bring success over the rest of this season is Warnock. If he could be persuaded with a big bonus for success it would give us more time to find a suitable long term appointee

I'd love Warnock here but can't help but think that's pie in the sky. If he does want another job, why would he drop as low as we are? Nice thought but not one single chance mate
