I agree and don't be surprised if he's the next Derby County Manager should Warne be unable to improve their form.

If Simon Parker is correct, it seems Karl Robinson turned down a non-existent opportunity: https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/sportlatest/23872665.report-claims-karl-robinson-turned-talks-bantams/

One of the dangers of a new manager is that he changes to defensive football. plays a slower game and send Pointon back to the under 19s or similar,
By design or by accident we have fallen on our feet with the present set up. Only an idiot would change it

I am sure he does and are no doubt helping with the PR of the dialogue. He looked somewhat disturbed when at the presser he was wearing green. He will no doubt be aware of his every word being dissected to the enth degree and interpretation concluded at every turn.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you because McDonald is surely weighing up whether he himself would fit into the high press and more mixed style of play that the players are currently enforcing. But the flip side is that the shelf-life for a manager - at Bradford City in particular - isn't a long one, and after being unable to play for so long you can see why he is split on it. If he accepts the job, he could easily be out of work completely by next summer.

I said on here recently that the club should be working quicker to conduct interviews, that was mainly because I didn't see us getting results out of Wimbledon (A) & Wrexham (H) after a 1-0 win over Swindon that could've easily gone the other way. I'm still of the belief that it shows once again that the club has no concrete plan for football related matters. But Kev has done a fantastic job at giving them that time to find the right person via a thorough process whilst also saying, if none of the candidates are right then you have a young and exciting candidate already here. One things for sure, he certainly has the fans onside already.

Or have we fluked a few results -

Charlie Austin missed from 5 yards
Wimbledon hit post and a stonewall penalty turned down
Wrexham Mullin misses from 5 yards and a stonewall penalty turned down

We could have quite easily got 1 point from the last 3 games.
We made this mistake with T&S when the worldies were flying in.

It's a short term trend that won't continue in the long term.
We need to go with a long term track record we can trust, like the Cowley's.

The lower league look on X (Twitter) reckon they've heard that Leam Richardson has been successful at either one of us or Gillingham.
I'm really hoping that this is either hearsay, or Gillingham. Their odds have been taken down and Richardson is still 16/1 with us. I'm worried that Richardson plays very similar football to Parkinson and had a very large budget at Wigan, which probably masked his abilities. There also must be a reason why he's been out of work for so long.
I'm still hoping that we keep as we are just for this week and see how results go, mainly because I really believe we can get back to back wins against two poor sides. I also hope that the board look to appoint someone already in a job, that has applied for our job. This is because they are willing to leave a comfortable position, really want to be here and are not just blanket applying because they are out of work. I can also see the clamour for Danny Cowley win percentage wise in the EFL and also I get that Scott Brown could probably be an experienced head on how players can handle playing in front of a big crowd, but I'm still not so sure.

Nobody is saying he has said that Kev, he's said he can't do both roles long term and he wants to keep playing. Whether he changes his mind about that remains to be seen and all I'm saying (and I think others are too) is that it has to be his decision and if he wants to keep playing, he shouldn't feel pressured into giving that up.

Completely disingenuous , what about our hitting posts, what about our two pens not given Sat, what about Cookie missing nailed on headers. It a false one sided narrative you are spinning try and make a point, sorry Hudders.. It’s a results orientated game , not a near misses game.

    Totally agree.

We will never know UNLESS he takes the job then I will be proved correct.

If he doesn’t get the job through NOT wanting a managers role or wasn’t shortlisted, doesn’t answer the fundemantal question at hand we are debating.

All water under the bridge, in the absence of a CLEAR denial, clearly there isn’t one otherwise it would have been produced. Good luck to the lad whatever happens , on that we all agree.

    Sparks can't win can he?

We've criticised him for jumping into bed at the first fluttering of the eyelids of Adams and Hughes. Now he's taking his time and doing things properly, i.e. weighing up the pros and cons of each candidate, that's not quick enough.

Let's be honest here, we could have lost all three matches. Certainly the Wimbledon one, was the luckiest victory I've seen since we beat Exeter 2-0 at home in our first season back here.

There's a potential issue brewing with Cook who largely spends his time negative gesturing at other players. That's where you need an experienced manager, i.e. like Parky who told off Morais for similar negative body language.

The squad is good, any decent manager should be getting results from it. As we saw on Saturday, both teams had enough quality to win half the matches in this division - problem of course is getting that consistency and managing the lows. Something Parky, always did excellently and clearly is with Wrexham (who let five in at Stockport) but McCall was terrible at doing.

Just a stop and pause moment. Irrespective of how Kevin McDonald is doing at the moment, then a couple of other significant issues need to be factored in from his perspective.

If he is on the ‘average’ salary, then it could be around £200,000 a season. Currently he has a guaranteed income on that level until June 2025.

He could then seek a management position, gain more coaching qualifications in the meantime.

He may even get a further playing contract after 2025.

If he takes a managers post, then the longevity of tenure can be short. Since Stuart got sacked in January 2018,City have had Grayson, Collins, Hopkin, Bowyer, McCall, Drury/Sellars, Adams & Hughes*. That is eight managers in just over five and a half years (58 months), so in post around seven months one week on average.

Even if you look beyond City the median figure has been quoted as being between 423-427 days!https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11096/10811856/football-manager-job-security-at-all-time-low-sky-sports-study-finds

Back to salary, then managers are probably averaging about half the salary of an average player.https://www.888sport.com/blog/league-two-salary

So if he takes the managers job, given City’s recent record he could be sacked around May 2024. Even looking at the ‘averages’, he could last until the end of the season in 2025.

If he takes the average salary of a manager then around £100,000 per season income, so a lower salary, plus less job security and potentially a shortened involvement in football.

So l can fully understand why he may well be reluctant to take the job!

    * We have also had other temporary managers, Abott, Drury and Trueman(15-24/2/2022).

You're worried that he plays a similar style of footie to a manager that took us from 4th bottom of L2 to 5th top of L1?

The footie Wigan played was very good on the eye. They were leading scorers when he won the title for then - so not certain where you're getting the "similar football to Parkinson" from.

Plenty of managers take their time between jobs - unconvinced why this means anything. It's often the ones that take a new job quickly, that then have their worst experiences.

Just give Kev till Christmas as we are, let him play when he wants.
    He knows his body.
Only thing I would change is can we get a short term deal for an experienced striker done to challenge Cook until Oliver is back??
Smith isn't what we need, Youmbi no where near, and Derbyshire is on the coaching staff now.

Other than clubs clearly far better than their opposition
Your argument could be made for 90% of all games played, there's always pivotal moments in games.
City deserved every point they've amassed under KM

If Austin puts it wrong side of the post that's his issue, because Pointon shinned it exactly where it needed to be.
On Saturday Wrexham nearly scored own goal, and it spun just wide of the post.
And if my Auntie had bollox she'd be my Uncle

I take your point Rod, it is valid.

but I think if he waits until 2025, or whenever, he will do extremely well to get an opportunity as big of that available at Bradford City right now.

I think our fans (not you personally) forget how huge this club is. Take a step back and look around that stadium on Sat - we are massive, far too big for this division, and the potential is there to be a top end L1 club, if not lower Championship club for, from a management perspective, will require very little input.

for all we bemoan Rupp’s lack of visibility, the club isn’t saddled with huge debts. We have competitive budgets every year. We aren’t forced into selling players to stay afloat and cover budget shortfalls.

we have a tremendous fanbase - propped up by cheap prices or not - who turn up in their droves year after year, to watch dross.

We have one of the best GK (when on form) and strikers in the division and we have a squad ready made for mounting a serious promotion under Kev.

We are a dream job really. So much untapped potential at the club. There is a chance for someone to come in and be a hero. Be that hero, Kev! Fans love how we’re playing under him already.
