Next manager

Hughes failed because of his dogmatic approach to games. He talked about adaptable players but he was anything but. And I think there is a lesson here for our next manager don’t be afraid to appoint an assistant who is not afraid to tell him he is getting wrong.

 

I'd suggest that goes for every other league two team at home, its certainly been my experience of the 65+ years of watching Bradford City.

 

Hodges has worked with Hughes on and off for about 15 years at international and club level so Hughes clearly trusts him and listens to him.
Whether he takes any notice is a different matter.
He was also touted as some sort of set piece expert(that went well) and had experience at our level.
As you’ve pointed out to others it’s easy to be wise after the event but I can’t remember you or anybody having any issues when he was appointed.

Hindsight is a funny thing after all.

 

Yes that was touted about I personally never questioned it, you have to ask what did we see differently under Hughes & Hodges, an odd variation on corner kicks or free kick would have at least shown they were trying something different, unfortunately the majority of times they were hit and hope balls, hit the ball into the opposition goal area and hope someone gets there head to it and scores.

 

When I/we recruited

A week for a closing date for all applicants, A week to sort out and arrange interviews. A week to interview and lastly another week for selection/ second interview if required.
It was always the same , never any different. You are close but I’d say closer to two weeks than 10 days. Unless of course they sift the applicants down to 5 and you could interview them all in 48 hrs, if that’s the case you are closer .

I didn’t realise he was originally from my old neck of the woods, Essex.

I’m not sure about the Cowleys tbh…..I can’t put my finger on it at the moment.
KM is my fav , agree it’s only on two games , followed by these two or Eustace from Brum.
The lad from Wigan….I’m not enthused about lumping it forrad football.

 

One league win only it’s a bit early to say and besides if he is hesitant then probably not. I’m glad I’m not making this decision maybe there are others not mentioned

If Mac was to be appointed he would need a good experienced number 2 or alternatively they could make him head coach and bring in a head of football if that’s the way they want to go

 

The Cowleys won’t be popular on here wanting a director of football, there was me thinking all managers hated the idea

I don't listen to McAntony's podcasts but according to a Gillingham fan the Peterborough owner has suggested Andrew Cofts ,currently at Brighton, could be a good choice of first team coach for City.

 

When was that podcast I was told an Andrew Croft was on the shortlist this morning must be same person slight error with surname, I googled it and came up blank

 

I second that and as a fan I would feel so let down if they were appointed
