I don't think you can put boundaries on it. When we got Hughes he had operated at a level way higher than we thought we could attract.

It depends on the applicant's situation and motivations as much as on ours.

No joy in what hss happened this evening but sadly it had become inevitable - great excitement when Hughes was appointed but things never really gelled and he's been on borrowed time in my eyes.
Gent has to go too as hes been far more miss than hit, remember Truman is now effectively in a caretaker capacity alongside McDonald and a lot will depend on how the recruitment process goes.
I am pleased MH won't have to face a potentially ugly atmosphere on Saturday and I hope the players will respond in a positive way to the shackles and awkwardness of the Hughes reign being somewhat released. For whatever reason they have not been doing themselves justice and they owe it to the fans to raise their standards (as many of them have been alluding to in recent weeks).

Good luck to Mark and Glynn in whatever their future has in store but the right decision has been reached - issues round Sparks and football decisions are a whole separate topic but for now he's done the only realistic option.

But ultimately another sad day for the club and we can only hope positive decisions will be made in the coming days/weeks

Smallwood may be a different player under a new manager. Maybe not as negative?

They do only come as a package certainly. Though Nicky was still playing when Danny started his managerial career. I'm sure I heard or read Danny say they share the manager/assistant salaries equally.

It is not so much his all round play, but his all round attitude that I find annoying. He is not a team player, things go wrong and he immediately looks round for someone else to blame; sulks like a baby. He makes lots of mistakes including a corker last night. Yes he may play completely differently for McDonald, but why couldn’t he play like that for Hughes? After all he is a professional footballer.

Sheffield Wednesday have just sacked Xisco Munoz.

Immediately available without compensation and presumably based locally.

Got Watford promoted to the Prem a couple of years ago.

Probably not on our radar, but some circumstances would fit together.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a load of familiar looking players looking like new signings on Saturday.

The point of the question isn’t about Macdonald or Trueman - it’s more to highlight that yet again under the ownerships regime we find ourselves at a managerial change after a highly speculative previous manager hasn’t worked AGAIN!

I hope this decision has come with a plan of a quick turnaround of a replacement and some sort of plan but i have doubts based on experience to date.

Essentially my sentiments and feeling of our club are pretty low based on where we find ourselves right now. Did Hughes have to go? yes, probably he did. Does it make this scenario we find ourselves any more optimistic? For me, not much……..

Hope I’m proved wrong - but we feel like a club in free fall seriously lacking any sort of a plan and need a leader to get a grip.

It had to be done, but there's no joy in seeing it done. As I posted on another thread, Hughes was one of only 6 permanent managers we've had with a 40% or higher winning percentage, and a losing percentage of 30% or lower. Last year was a much-needed improvement, but with a feeling of under-achievement; the playoffs were poorly handled; and this year has been a great disappointment. And that's before we get into the question of recruitment. Sadly, Hughes did not give me the confidence that he could turn it around, and the accumulation of problems meant he had to go.

I just wish the club's statement would have been that they were now looking for a DOF/Head of Football Operations who would then oversee the hiring of a new manager. I suppose though that mid-season is not the time for so dramatic a change, but I have little confidence in the current hierarchy suddenly becoming good at football decisions. Oh for a good organisational structure!

Nathan Jones would probably be my top candidate.

Would expect the likes of Brad,Stubbs,Cook and Walker to be up for helping McDonald out on saturday.
Just need a few more to follow them and the game can be winnable.

Early rumblings are Garry Monk, Steve Cotterill and Crowleys as front runners this could change depending on how Big Kev does as a caretaker.
