I am afraid with the current form we are going to struggle to come away with anything. I predict a 2-1 to Newport.

Would have expected this from pre season really. Sadly shows how inept our leadership team is at the club.

Could be a weird atmosphere for Newport tomorrow. Likely one of the final home games as a fan owned club as it seems Huw Jenkins has been selected as the preferred bidder. Also, their manager Graham Coughlan is the favourite for the Cheltenham job.

Might be a good amount of distractions to help us?

"Full tilt" comes from jousting. I think the idea was that the faster you rode, the less likely you were to score a direct hit and/or defend yourself with your shield, so you would only revert to it if going slower and aiming for accuracy had worked better for your opponent up to that point. So going full tilt might be seen by some as a reckless act of impatience, or perhaps desperation, and by others as a reasonable change of tactics because plan A is not working. So, why has it taken until now to go full tilt, and is it the correct response? Actions on the pitch have not really matched previous words, anyway, so I suppose it does not matter much about the exact words chosen. And if we do go full tilt, well, let's see what the result of it turns out to be first ........

Edit - a bit more research suggests the tilt was orginally the dividing fence between the charging horses in a duel. Perhaps, stepping up from hand to hand jousting on foot to lance to lance combat on horse was considered more risky. There were lots of rules designed to stop people actually being seriously injured or killed - a bit like boxing these days. You might injure an opponent and still lose a joust if you broke the safety rules to do so. So maybe going full tilt just means stepping up to the more dangerous form of jousting since lances and horses are harder to control and it would represent a show of strength and skill just to compete within safety rules, never mind win.

 

Can't be mithered with it today, decided to save myself the grief of another poor performance and poor result, so off to Spain it is.
