Was it a financial decision? Wasn't he still under contract and they agreed to terminate it by mutual consent.

Tbh i’d take anyone instead of hughes. Just having a fresh face would get more out of this group. Hughes is finished and holding us back.

 

The Wednesday owner claimed this week that Moore demanded 1 million a year for getting them in the championship and insisted on being the highest paid at the club. Wouldn’t accept any players being on more than him. He’d be so much out of range financially,it’s a complete non starter.

 

I'd take what the owner said with a massive pinch of salt. His account of what happened post promotion sounded like some kind of fairy tale. IMHO it was a pack of lies designed to deflect any criticism that would come his way we're the team to struggle at the start of the season which they have.

 

He did something similar as a player for us when we were promoted to PL. Demanded a huge upgrade on his contract and when he didn’t get it he was gone. Never played a single game for us in the PL.

 

Darren's deeply religious. If the Wednesday owner's account is correct, how does Moore's "snout in the trough" demand sit with his belief's? No thanks.

 

Chris Wilder might think he’s better than L2 but he knows how big we are so make him an offer.

Of the options mentioned

• Darren Moore - don't see why he would drop down to league 2 now when it's likely managers in league 1 will be sacked in the next 6-8 weeks so he could get a decent job in league 2.
• Darrell Clarke - promotion with 3 of his 4 clubs and looks to develop players which what we need. With the amount of jobs available over the summer I'm surprised he's still available
• Danny Cowley - Struggled since leaving Lincoln. Portsmouth fans seemed to have a lot of respect for him even when he was sacked due to how he conducted himself and work off the pitch
• Steve Evans - his teams are based on physicality and we don't have that, I also don't see why he'd drop down to league 2 at the moment
• Chris Wilder - his reputation is probably at the lowest it's been but again I don't see him dropping to league 2.

If/when we do sack Hughes it's a big job for whoever comes in and I think a lot of managers who would consider putting their name forward would think twice when you look at how many managers have struggled so managers like Moore won't want to risk it all on us.

 

Even more boring than MH. 10 men behind the ball is his style.

The day Steve Evans takes over will be the day I stop going. A racist bully is not what I want to see managing this club.

Having said that, after today's performance, it's definitely time for Hughes to pack his bags and walk off into the sunset

 

Cannot stand Evans, but I've never heard racist allegations against him, so where do you get that from?

 

Entirely my mistake, and I find myself in the embarrassing position of owing Evans an apology. I was mixing him up with John Yems.

The Sheffield Wednesday chairman is a crackpot, nobody believes what he said about Moore and if you do then you’re an idiot. From what I’ve heard he was vastly underpaid at Wednesday (less than Hughes).
I don’t think that it’s totally unfeasible that he’d come here. Former club, big mates with Jacobs and not a million miles from his home. It’s definitely worth asking the question. He might not drop down but people shouldn’t rule it out completely.

 

You're entitled to your opinion of course, and I'm not condoning racism or bullying, though im not aware of anything racist relating to Evans. But we've had players who've done worse things and been idolised.
