wrexham won again to climb into playoffs and Mullin came off bench now fit. They are going to turn the screw.

Apart from Crewe, I think the others in the top seven were teams we’d expect to challenge. Gills top after a late winner, but many said they’d do well this year.

city, salford and stockport look the underachievers so far, although if Hughes stays I think our position will be a deserved one.

 

Might be helpful when looking for perspective by looking at the last 3 games to actually look at the last 3 games. The last 3 league games are w d d yielding 5 points not 2. The last 3 games are again w d d. The last 4 games are actually w w d d.

 

Hard? That has to be a joke? We've played one side who were fancied for promotion pre season and one side in the top 7 places on current form. There is no measure by which you can say we've had a difficult start?!

 

Morecambe a disastrous defeat agreed Mansfield who were playing well before us and a great win today a draw there with the team we had out was a great point. And with Five players out today the consensus outside the ground was that a point would be good today and we got one. I have been critical of Hughes for along time I hate his negative brand of football but that does not disguise the fact that however they were achieved under the circumstances they were two good points

The four results since the disastrous Morecambe defeat represent quite a decent recovery imo especially considering the injury problems we have had. That's my perspective anyhow.

 

I mentioned this before a ball was kicked, yes without doubt we messed up last season in not getting promoted, as this season with the new additions to L2 was going to be way harder, but in reality and thinking about it many new strong additions will be a good thing, lots of strong contenders all randomly beating each other and no one running away with it.

 

The concensus outside the ground was that a point would be good today you posted, Come on park you didn't go round thousands of fans on the result today or even 30 not even 20.I was going to the match hoping for a victory because both team had injuries and foolishly thinking our manager had a master plan for victory

Not good enough. Again.

Recruitment looks haphazard at best. Sticking with what they did last year and adding a few more goals from midfield and a bit of pace upfront would have seen them up there again. Ripping it up and starting again. Just ridiculous.

 

Because it's early in the season. Give it 6 weeks and it'll be "we're only 4 points off play offs".

If we continue with a shape that we don't have the squad for, that's how it'll stay all season with the only difference being that the points we're behind the play offs will steadily increase.

 

It's no secret I have been a massive critic of Halliday.......but not yesterday. He had a very good game and was MOTM contender, and he didn't give Eisa a sniff.

If we do away with the 5 at the back then we have the strength in depth to be a force in this division
It all hinges on Hughes to recognise that 5 at the back does not suit us.

 

He sounded like he was saying it was a one off that it didn't work today. Blamed the lack of pressing instead. A promotion winning side is there on a plate for him if only he'll make the right decisions.
