Worked in Wales for 2 years.
Watched the odd game of Connahs Quay,Bala Town and Flint Town(who were relegated)
Didn’t see TNS in any games but the standard wasn’t bad.
TNS are head and shoulders the best team though.
Won the league by 20+ points.

The Connahs quay v Flint game is particularly lively crowd wise.
They are only about 3 miles apart

 

I was hoping that would be one of a few foreign players I spoke to Gent about

 

Clearly none of us know anything about him, so let's see. Fair play to the club for looking further afield though. There's plenty of talent in places like the Irish and Welsh league's, and conference.

 

I think this sees the end of the five at the back. No point signing wingers who go out and out to attack if we have wing backs

 

Don’t know where the “mainly left” come from.
Unless it means mainly left footed.
The vast majority of that 8 minute highlight video has him as a right winger who cuts in on his left.

Looks like he was injured. He had a muscle injury all July reading an interview with their manager and didn't play for TNS in their European qualification. Just 17 starts for him in all comps in Wales last season. Looks like he ended last season with an injury too.

Has had some troubles with injury in his short career, had 10 months out at Newcastle with an ankle injury then a reoccurring thigh problem.

Left footed and plays on the right. Looks very much the "inverted" winger that Banks was so don't expect too much crossing from the byline areas.

 

I can't imagine this lad starting right away. There is a big step up from the Welsh league to League 2.

Nonetheless, I like these types of signings. He won't be breaking the bank and the pay-off is big if we develop the player and he does the business.

I was as sad as the next man losing Banks, but I'd much prefer a strategy of signing and developing our own young prospects, compared to loaning and developing other club's players that we realistically have no chance of holding onto permanently.

 

Did we beat off stiff opposition for his signature?

 

Had a look about, he had a link to York in May and that's been it. Lads been injured pretty much since the start of April, so imagine that's put teams off of being able to have a look at him.

 

Were initally called that for sponsorship reasons , then a ruling made them change their name .

 

Genuine question, what's the standard of the Welsh Prem like? National League equivalent?

 

I believe so. One or two Sunday League clubs in Wales were probably interested. Another one who's "buzzing" and loves performing in front of "big crowds".

I see Avenue had a big win yesterday. Perhaps we should send a scout down to Horsfall, to tap the undoubted potential that exists in tier seven.

Excuse my cynicism.......
