hes always got us down, he said we would get mid table last season and we got 6th and were in the play offs all season.

Others have applauded our recruitment this window, one person said that pattinson might actually be the best signing this window.

"City merely finished there because a tiny handful of players were good enough to carry everyone else with them"

so how did we have one of the best away records in the league? bugger off gab, he knows nothing.

no idea how hes got a job writing this stuff!

at least NTT20 (worth a listen if you like EFL podcasts) has us to be 3rd last season and were out by 3 places and 7 points which is much better!

Logic behind Barrow at 3rd: "You're writing for a gambling website. You might dupe some people into thinking Barrow will do really well. Under no other circumstances will anybody bet on Barrow."

Logic behind Bradford City at 14th: "You're writing for a gambling website. They're going to draw money no matter what, they're one of the biggest clubs in the division, so even writing them off won't harm the money flowing in. It might even motivate some 'prove me wrong' money."

    That's all this is.

Met him after a game on North Parade once, he was up doing his podcast I think a season or two back. Seemed like a nice guy, but has some odd EFL takes for sure. As he writes for a betting firm, you do wonder how much of it he means and how much of it is putting praise on a random team or negatively talking about a should be achiever to try get bets swayed onto those odds?

Ha, echoed my thoughts perfectly there Jordan!

I've no idea who the guy is, but it's Bet Victor.

They publish articles to incite bets, let's be honest.

There is no way on earth Barrow are finishing 11 places above us. In my opinion Barrow will finish nearer to the bottom than top.

You’d think so, wouldn’t you, especially given it is his aerobic capacity that is directly effected.

Wonder if Wrexham may do a ‘Stockport’ and get going in second half of the year?

Yes of course, but I do think the club took into account that it would cost us to go searching late in the window.

No … they will just buy somebody.

Probably from the CC because available L1 forwards who guarantee goals are very thin on the grass.

Possibly, although financial fair play might limit them more than it did last year, to be able to make panic buys! Bet they wish they got Cooky on a free now!

Speaking of Stockport. They started the window by saying they wanted the squad to get younger and were planning on moving away from some older talent. Moved some on but still have Madden and Sarcevic at the club with both at the start of the summer thought to have been told the plan is to start others in those slots. Not a shock to Sarcevic, he was already a part time starter for Stockport last season and by the fans accounts he looks like he's probably a rotation option at best at L2 level.

Madden was supposedly 3rd/4th choice for the coming season behind Wootton and Olafe as the main pairing and Stretton and Madden being the rotating out two. However Wootton hasn't had a pre season after his injury at the end of last season and Stretton has just done his ACL in a friendly, he'll miss most of this coming season. So now Madden is back in the starting plans and Stockport are in the market for a young forward on loan.

I agree with the part about Hughes looking flat and drained, but as a City fan I want to see him putting a lot more energy and effort in. Regardless of his past career, he's done nothing with us to justified being lacklustre and jaded. The lasting picture in my mind of last season is of him slumped alone on the bench at Carlisle after their winning goal. Unless he'd gone there to fart because the touchline was miked up for SKY I still can't understand what he was doing at that critical moment when he needed to earn his corn.

In an ideal world I'd like to have seen Hughes take a short summer break in Ilkley then be pounding the city in his club tracksuit all summer, leading training sessions in the Bradford Puddle and Lister Park and generally whipping up enthusiasm among supporters and local businesses with impromptu meet and greets.

That was never going to happen but I think you're quite right in identifying that the pre-season mood has been flat and while Hughes isn't solely to blame for that, he could have done more to lift it.

Gabriel Sutton's predictions this time last year were spot on. He had Tranmere 1st, Mansfield 2nd and Stockport 3rd. He had Newport and Grimsby finishing in the top 7, Hartlepool 12th, Stevenage 14th and Carlisle 19th.
I'm sure he will be just as spot on this year too.

In fairness, it's just a prediction. I'm not sure why we're all so precious that it's somehow offending us.

East Anglian press suggesting we could be a loan move for Baggott the Indonesian CB at Ipswich. Young kid, good loan at Gills last term.In January he stepped up to Cheltenham in L1 and never played. Where have we seen a loan like that before.

3 year deal at Ipswich so they rate him. Clubs are in for him (Northampton and St Johnstone), Ipswich keen to loan out and we were mentioned.

I'm not offended in the slightest. I just think it's odd anyone listens to a word he says. He's always struck me as someone who thinks he is a bit of an authority on things when in reality, his opinion is no more valid than yours or mine.

Sutton is probably a nice guy and no malice or axe to grind but he had us 11th and we finished 6th last year. His predictions are utterly laughable. He also had MK Dons 1st in L1 last season and they went down.

To put it bluntly he really doesnt have a clue.
