That's a fair price all things considered.It may be £500k to cover a buy,i.e. Rose,with change, and rest to cover wages including Doyle loan.

 

If we've got a guaranteed £1m for Wyke and a replacement on his way in (Doyle/Sharp), that's not bad business.

If we get the right replacements I hope some of the missing season ticket holders will return and boost the coffers.

Exactly.. 300% profit on a striker like Wyke is damn good business.

 

500k up-front obviously means 500k in add-ons - meaning absolutely no guarantee of anything above the 500k initial fee. If Wyke wants to go, the owners hands are tied and I can't blame them all too much. However, if the reports that we are signing Doyle on loan in his place, what an uninspiring end to the transfer window.

56 games, 35 goals and 10 assists at 1 every 140 mins in L1 for Eoin Doyle.... for comparison Wyke has 81 games, 24 goals and 13 assists at 1 every 277 minutes.

 

Wrong. 500k up front plus another 500k could include 250k in January and a further 250k in May, or an agreement along those lines.

Wrong again. Doyle has a significantly better league 1 record than Wyke.

 

How do you know? 500k up front doesn't even necessarily mean lump sum, it just means guaranteed. 500k more than likely to be add-ons i.e. set goals or promotion.

 

You said the exact same thing to me yesterday, I appreciated he's a great striker, I just don't see how bringing in another striker on loan would be beneficial in the long run. Also, let's say Doyle starts up front - who do we play if/when he's injured or fatigued? I still maintain every other striker we have isn't good enough yet, or needs someone up top with them...they look to have been bought with Wyke in mind.

 

On the other hand 166 games in 3 English leagues since 2013, scoring 56 goals in total. About a goal every third game.

Hopefully we will have add ons should Sunderland be promoted, goals scored and a percentage of any future transfer fee. Rspecially if Carlisle are due a cut of this transfer fee.

 

The key word being LOAN, not Doyle. No question he's a great striker, but they're not the same type.

 

500k up front means "now", same as a deposit to buy something.

 

The deal is being reported by Carlisle press as same figures as they are looking for some money from sell on clause they claim was in the contract.

I think if figures are being correctly reported,then we should get 500k now and may need it if Carlisle are due money from us.

 

What did you know about Wyke before he signed. I will stick my neck out and say we would be pleasantly surprised by how good he is if he signed. I listened to Cov vs Mansfield on the radio (i was driving and it as an International weekend) and the commentators said he could easily step up to the championship. Might only be one game though
