I wouldn’t expect a single word of truth from any fans forum, they are designed to appease fans, not stir up controversy. Never in a million fans forums would Hughes admit first team players could be leaving.

 

Chance to ask "Why do we pull everyone back into the box to defend corners and free kicks?" or "Are we bringing Zumba back at half time?"

Been to loads of fans forums over the years with various chairmen and the one thing they nearly all have in common is no matter how much anger there is in the room no one asks difficult questions. The vociferous ones disappear when their chance comes.

 

What a ridiculous statement to make, especially considering the season hasn’t kicked off yet. Sparks doesn’t seem to learn from the past, setting himself up for more criticism if the season is another failure

 

What’s ridiculous about it he is claiming nothing, the top half of league two is probably as strong as the bottom half of league one especially this coming season. And there is loads more money available if and when we are promoted

‘There absolutely won’t be half time zumba’

Honestly, some of the questions were cringeworthy.

One bloke talked about we need to stop talking about Wrexham then went on to talk about Wrexham for five minutes.

Most answers were very cleverly articulated, in a non committal manner.

Hughes absolutely didn’t say nobody would be leaving, just implied nothing was imminent but who’s to say clubs won’t be in between now and the end of the transfer window. That comment was more ‘we’re not in a position where we have to sell any players’.

The ‘1 or 2 more’ comment I didn’t and wouldn’t take literally.

I’ve been to a lot of forums over the years and this one was very low key with little of anything to report if I’m honest

 

It’s a pretty ridiculous statement. The top 12 teams in league 2 aren’t as good as the bottom 12 of league 1. If he thinks that then he doesn’t have a clue about league one and some of signings that have been made by those clubs.
I wouldn’t want the majority of our team in league one. Not if we were to stay up anyway.
I’d say the top 6 clubs is more realistic but that’s the same for every division. For example Leeds, Leicester and Southampton are probably going to have squads on par with Burnley, Bournemouth and Luton for example.
Sparks loves a sound bite to make us sound massive. It’s boring.

Not sure what folk expect from these forums. I went to the one with Edin just for the comedy value but Christ I've got better things to do with my life.

 

I think we’ve been spoiled over the years with the ones Geoffrey used to run. He could sell sand to the Arabs and ice to the Eskimo’s in those forums.
People went in with hatred and left eating out of his hands

 

He didn’t say the top half of league two is better than the lower half of league one. Another out of context comment.
He said there had been a notable shift where a lot of players were turning down offers from lower half league one in favour of upper half league two, which suggested it was getting stronger (be it for reasons financial or other)

Id love to know which players haha He’s talking nonsense. The fact the guy is trying to rip his own customers/fans off by helping his mate out tells me all I need to know about Ryan Sparks. I wish he’d just keep his mouth shut tbh. We’ve seen this season after season from him and despite all his crap he has yet to deliver any success. This season we’re going for leaner and more flexible. I wonder what it’ll be next summer. Like I said.. he’s boring.

From this summer alone Kristian Dennis turned down Carlisle to drop down to league 2, Andy Cook turned down league 1 offers. David McGoldrick turned down Derby for Notts County. That's 3 players off the top of my head that are publically known. From the 4 teams relegated into league 2 last season all 4 finished in the bottom half with 3 of them finishing in the bottom 8.

Dennis was offered a pay as you play deal which at his age was never going to be accepted and if the rumours are true he’s been replaced with the lad at Crewe.
McGoldrick always said he would finish his career at Notts County and Andy Cook was never uprooting his family at 32/33 to move to Stevenage.
There is no chip on my shoulder at all, I just aren’t naive and blind to the crap Sparks comes out with. Fair enough if you are.
