We have to stay with him no matter how this season has gone, a little disappointed with his comment in his post match interview where he admits he was hoping it had gone to penalties, which makes a mockery of the goal Barclay scored, a free header in the box that had 4 defenders well over 6 foot tall.

mark Hughes has spent OVER 20 YEARS as a manager and achieved absolutely nothing in that time as he has sank lower and lower down the leagues trying to win something, When will the penny drop that he is not suited to football management and retire and admit he is out of his depth

After the match I was ranting and scathing saying "Hughes out" "bottled it" "not good good" blah blah...

But after a good night sleep I can reflect on a season of progress, albeit falling short at the end. We must keep Hughes and the bulk of the squad going into next season. For the first time in years we can look to build in the summer with some quality key additions (some pace in the side!) rather than a whole squad overhaul which results in as many misses as it does hits.

Providing we can keep the key players from this season (Cook!!!!), trim the fat and go with a slightly leaner, higher quality squad next season, then there's no reason we can't progress 12 months on.

    Hughes in. Up the chickens!

MH has another year to run on his contract. So unless another club comes in for his services, he won’t be going anywhere. And rightly so. Yes his style of play is often frustrating, and his subs are sometimes baffling (none more than yesterday) BUT we’ve still had a fantastic season given our previous few seasons of abject failure. We need the continuity, I cannot cope with repeating the cycle all over again. Look at the pedigree that Adams came with, and it was catastrophic. It doesn’t always work out, let’s just persevere with mark and see who he brings in. Getting rid now is simply a roll of the dice that I am not prepared to support

If we don’t gain promotion next season, then by all means don’t offer him a new deal and we move onto someone else. But until then, he has my full backing

Agree dave, but I also think golden bollocks Lewis must take the bulk of the blame for Barclays goal

Just had a quick look and he seems to be going the wrong way and tried to correct himself mid-flight, I thought he should have done better with their first, but overall he's had a great season with us.

I’m not in the sack him camp. Sure, I’m disappointed and wonder why some decisions have been made. I’m hoping he’s learned a lot about the division this season.
We are in a tricky position if things start poorly next season. We have chopped and changed managers so often it’s got to a point where you feel we have to stick with someone. What if that someone isn’t the right one?
I am really fed up after yesterday, as was Hughes. It’s gone now and we can’t do anything to alter it. Yet again, a huge summer for City.
I really hope Hughes has got a much fuller understanding of League 2 now. Although I think sticking with him is best, missing out again next year cannot be acceptable for City.

He certainly has mate, and pulled off a cracking save yesterday, but he shouldn’t be exempt from criticism this season. He has made some terrible gaffes and his distribution is nothing short of woeful, but he smiles a lot and screams “up the fecking chickens” down a fan cam and he’s the golden child. His reactionary saves, however, are second to none so it’s all things he can work on with Doyle to make him a better keeper for our promotion push next season

He absolutely has. He has faltered a bit over the last few weeks though, and I'm not sure if that's a bit of burn out from playing 50+ games this season from previously playing 0, if he's maybe starting to believe that he's better than he actually is due to all the adoration he gets, or a bit of both. One things for sure, if he's still here next season (and I think he will be), we need to move Doyle onto coaching duties only and bring in a capable number 2 to keep Lewis on his toes, and to also perhaps give him a break in certain games such as the pizza cup.

I agree with you. Hughes has a managerial career stretching back over twenty years but has won precisely nothing. There have been times when he's put together decent squads and played some good stuff. Stoke City supporters enjoyed much of his time there, crediting him with creating a team producing attractive football. But even there it ended with Hughes being sacked with The Potters in the relegation zone.
Mark Hughes was an outstanding footballer. After managing so long in The Premier League there was inevitably a touch of stardust about the idea of him coming to a League Two club. But it never felt like a good fit to me; though Derek Adams seemed perfect and how badly that turned out.
I don't believe Mark Hughes will lead Bradford City to automatic promotion.

Not as big a yawn as watching City players passing the ball sideways and backwards in our own half while at home. It was a joy to watch sometimes it got up to 30 passes which put the fear of god into the opposition.

Keep him, but lock him in a room to watch all 69 hours of footage from the last five teams to win league two.and force him to sleep in a room with audio of Del Boy constantly repeating 'who dares wins rodney'

Hughes has been in situ for almost one and a half seasons at VP. He has seen two sets of promotions and relegations play out and yet I've seen little evidence to show that he learns lessons from his own mistakes or those of others. Equally, I've seen little to suggest he has learned much from the successes of others at this level.

He had a great career at the highest level being coached by some great coaches. He has extensive experience as a manager in the PL and at the international level. He comes across as a very considered, knowledgeable guy when interviewed. However, other than the power of his own reputation which is considerable, I've seen little to suggest that the tactics, coaching, preparation, gameplan etc gained from his considerable experience at the highest levels have proved any more beneficial than many of the workman like approaches of other lower league managers. Maybe there's a simple answer? What works at the elite level where he gained his experiences has little bearing on gaining success at the lower levels.
