If you lived in Gillingham (I have in the past) you'd be glad of any excuse to escape the shithole, even if only for a Saturday afternoon.

The fact that the club can continue to pull significant numbers to away games. Particularly in a time of severe financial constraints for many. When City have massively underachieved for most of the last two decades is absolutely outstanding.

Just imagine the support if the club had an owner who was motivated or even remotely interested in Bantams progressivism and challenging at a higher level than the basement league in English professional football?

I've been watching what's been happening at Wrexham whilst slowly turning green with envy, because they'll be yet another club that will overtake City relatively quickly I expect. A close family connection means I've been taking a keen interest in League One this season as well and even attending some games. When I see the likes of Accrington Stanley, Fleetwood, Cheltenham and FGR, their gates and facilities, doing better than the club I support. It only serves to highlight just how poorly administered City have been for far too long now.

These other clubs actually make me wonder; are City fans too patient, too easily pleased? Would any other club with the level of support that City continually get accept what they tolerate at VP? Have City fans become the footballing equivalent of an long abused partner, so worn down by years of bad behaviour that they now accept their situation as normal and can no longer imagine anything better is feasibly possible?

I think our level of support may suggest the opposite. We are worn down by crap leadership but the fact that we maintain that level of support to me suggests there's a passion that with the right leadership would really flourish and carry us forward. We support our team, seemingly no matter what is happening upstairs and I think that reflects well on our support base in spite of what we have had to put up with... obviously we're entitled to have a moan here and there but I don't think we lack passion for our team/ club

I do see this line of thought from time to time on here and to be blunt I personally think its quite silly.
Are Everton fans to blame for a “lack of ambition”? How about West Ham fans? Are Huddersfield Town fans to blame for how poor they are doing?

For any of these teams the answer is no. Its delusional to suggest fans have a direct affect how well a club is run.* And if you may entertain the over exaggeration, victim blaming! by that standard Bournemouth, Luton and Brentford should be in League Two.

And it also belittles how difficult promotion actually is. Salford and even Wrexham have actually struggled to achieve their goals.

The only difference between a club doing well and a club doing poor is recruitment. And as fans we don't get to pick who plays for the club.

*obviously here i am not referring to fan led clubs.

I'm with you regarding fans having little input to how successful their club is, social media give fans a chance to express their opinions but as your examples Everton being a prime case do mass protests, the flying of a banner around the ground actually change anything.
The powers that be at Goodison dare not attend home games on police advice although some made an appearance at Anfield last night they are the custodians of the club who have made the wrong calls over many years, many thinking (including myself) when Farhad Moshiri bought the club with his wealth it would give Everton a fighting chance to get back to the once great club they were but as with ourselves they have been too quick to sack managers, the one who look capable of building the club Carlo Ancelotti was poached by Real Madrid and as he said at the time you don't turn Real Madrid down.
I'm not sure how some of our fans would cope if they had gone through the two situations when the club called a meeting at St Georges Hall with regards us going out of business then Stafford & Jack calling a meeting one Sunday morning at Valley Parade to see if the fans would back them and invest in the club, we purchase our season tickets buy merchandise at the shop and on the day, vocally support our club but just what more can they do, we protest with regards the owner he sells to A N Other with no guarantee of future sucsess, as with any other business if the people at the top don't get it right the fans have little they can do about it.

Pretty much one in every 100 residents of Carlisle, which for such a long journey is impressive.

As @Kevin1954@Kevin1954 said they are a little like Plymouth very little competition so maybe a bit of a captured audience situation, but yes that's a good ratio.

East Anglia is also a club desert. Ipswich & Norwich.

I haven’t counted Colchester as it’s in Essex.

Only 5,496 at dirty Donny last night which is a joke.

Surely we get another 1,000 tickets otherwise it will be like the good old days and a case of hundred's in the home end.

I remember going to the old ground and standing in the terrace down the side, we then noticed loads of the ointment had decided to do the same!
