That's the bit where I nearly mounted the kerb. He also blamed their cb for being lazy and not 'bothering to run back' which created an 'overload we couldn't defend'. Honestly it was a joke of an interview.

 

Isn't that what happened though? So was an accurate recollection of what happened?

 

He's making out like the goal was some freak occurrence within the context of the rest of the interview, almost as if it would have only happened in such odd circumstances whereas the truth was, one way or another, the goal was coming. One hit the bar, one cleared off the line and you knew what was next. Also the guy had stayed up because the attack wasn't over. Hughes was implying the cb just couldn't bother jogging back. In truth he sensed he'd get a chance whereas we switched off and left him unmarked.

 

I am sure you will get over it and move on with your life.

 

Just on a different note, & admittedly I’m not his biggest fan, but personally I thought gillead was superb today. As most supporters crave passion, heart, desire, he has it in abundance, for once trying to drive forward & bring the rest of the team with him, maybe Clayton & east are the foil for him. Is Smallwood straight back? I’m not sure

 

Well you asked the question. Thought the performance was alright. I'm not arsed, just thought there were some daft comments in the interview after the game.

 

He shouldn’t be, and it’s not a criticism of Smallwood, but that performance today was very good.
We need to take our chances otherwise we’ll come unstuck again, but it was a marked difference from recent weeks.
We need more of the same and the results will, more often than not, come

It was the usual tale of dropping deeper and deeper as the match went on not helped by Walker and Clayton legs running out of steam.
Played some good stuff first half but disappointing once again for me. Interesting though many people turning there noses up at a very good point at Stockport then watching Mansfield celebrate like they have won the cup with a point at our place

 

Hmm the equaliser coming in injury time might have something to do with that.

 

It’s the nature of the point though isn’t it?
Stockport were and are no better than Mansfield and definitely no better than us (I think we’re the best of the three).
He we played like we did today, with some positive intent, at Stockport then fans would be more positive about that result.
I’ve criticised us in recent weeks, including Stockport, but late shortcomings aside (again), I thought we put a good show on today.
A positive for me is that, yes we were under pressure, but at least we didn’t concede whilst sitting back putting on a negative cautious showing

He was the best player on the park and deservedly got the MOM award. He was unlucky not to get an assist first half, shame them type of balls from him are rare.

 

Two sides trying to win. Entertaining game. Another lesson in when you’re on top you have to take your chances. We should have been 2 up and uncatchable. However Mansfield showed loads of endeavour and deserved their point. If we had won 1-0 most of the whiners wouldn’t be piping up. We play quite well today but didn’t put away that second goal. So we leave ourselves open for them equalising. Gilleard was good today. Bola yes bola despite all those who wanted to send him back after 1 game shone as did walker and cook.
I’m not sure what happened to Crichlow in the second half. He was all over the place.
Chapman sadly continues to disappoint.

Not seen a still but watching in iFollow it looked nowhere near over. Fantastic piece of defending, not only to make the clearance but at the moment there was pressure from opposition all around him. Though he had a very solid game, especially first half where his forward attributes showed his value.

 

Cleared one off the line somehow and offered a positive threat going forwards today. Played well for me and from being the talk before the game for the wrong reasons was seen in a positive light afterwards.
I like Foulds but he could learn something from the offensive side of Bolas game today.

 

Entertaining game and a draw was a fair result, no matter how disappointing conceding the late equaliser was.

I thought the midfield were very good in the first half and surely MH has a dilemma about bringing Smallwood straight back in next week.

Clayton impressed me and handing the captain armband to Gilliead seemed to inspire him as he had his best game in a City shirt in my opinion, I thought he was excellent.

Criminal defending at the death allowing a free header for their equaliser.

I thought we missed Songo'o for those last 10 minutes or so. He was handy to throw on when up against it and hanging on.

Not too down on the result as I think it was a definite improvement on most home performances of the season.

I think we may just have enough to end up in the playoff lottery, but I've given up hope of snatching 3rd spot
