Showed yesterday how he'd played at championship level. Doesn't always get the final pass or shot right but had his best game for us by some distance. That run for Cooks chance in the second minute was exactly what we've missed, it was top class and how the hell Cook missed it? That would won us the game after only two minutes.
Hopefully see Chapman dominate more games, he's certainly got the talent.

I agree he's got talent, but don't see how he fits in once Walker is back.

Walker is a threat, Chapman definitely the better 'baller - but who's going to win you more points? Have to say, for me, I can't wait for Walker to get back in. Harsh, but Chapman's finishing just isn't up to scratch.

I wonder if he could play alongside Smallwood a bit further back? He certainly has an eye for sweeping cross-field balls, and does drop back from time to time... but in that attacking midfield spot? Not for me.

i expect Hughes will fit them both in. Played out wide for Blackburn. Could be worth a spot alongside Smallwood, he has a good work rate and isn't afraid to put a challenge in. More importantly he is mobile, he spent a fair bit of time in that position yesterday. Too good a player to leave out on yesterdays form.

I've liked Chapman from the beginning. Very direct and great to see him running at defences. The only thing that let's him down is his finishing which is disappointing.

Once Walker is up and running, be good to see him out wide

I know his goal scoring is non existent, but I would have him the side as that run yesterday was just superb. If he does that those that can score could get on the end of those runs.

Looking at his stats, then Harry has only had one spell when he has hit a lot of goals and that was the five months he had at Shrewsbury.
Yes he is industrious, and skilful, but based on his career then he doesn’t appear to be the answer to the goal shortage.
If we are playing a 4-2-3-1 formation, then the players in the attacking midfield need to be getting around double figures, if the team is going to progress.
Can he recapture his 7 goals in 23 appearances form?

I like him a lot. He's got the beating of any defender in this league and glides past players for fun. It's just a shame his final product isn't quite there, a case in point was his scuffed effort yesterday when only 6 yards out.

As good as he is, we need players like him to start scoring too.

On Saturday he was knackered for the last 10-15 minutes and, together with Smallwood and Gilliard, all three could have been replaced by fresh legs which would probably have seen us over the line.

Taking players off for fresh ones doesnt mean it will see us over the line. Last Tuesday we took Chapman off and our shape fell apart. I agree that one of Smallwood or Gilliead should have been replaced but not both.

Its interesting you say that, because I had been thinking that in most matches bar the last couple, he has brought Sutton on around the 60 minute mark. He divides opinion on here but he has definitely done the job of consolidating our position or helping the team push on in that last 20-30 minutes of games. The last couple of games Sutton hasn't been on the bench and we've struggled to get over the line.

another one for me where he needs to start putting some numbers on the board to back up his obvious ability. Can glide past defenders all he wants but if a goal or assist doesn't come from it he might as well be gliding past billy bantam

Sounds just like Pereira. Let’s hope his goal has given him a lift. Seems a confidence player.

Much more likely that he will be the one who makes way for Walker and we play Wright/ Banks alongside Walker.

FFS he's the best player in the squad.
Banks-Walker-Chapman with a striker who can do both, hold it up and score goals, is the way to success.
Genuine question, do you play football or have you played football to a decent standard??
I had 2 blokes in front of me in the kop the other day who clearly have never ever played or couldn't run 5 metres without throwing up slagging off the whole team.
I'm curious to know where peoples opinions come from.

You don't need to have played football at a decent level to be knowledgeable.

I'm not saying whether the blokes in front of you knew what they were talking about or not but asking if people have ever played before you'll accept their point of view is such a poor take imo.

    I accept the opinion.
I was asking how people get an opinion on players or teams generally.
By playing, through experience of old City players, watching football on tv.
How does a fan decide if a player is deemed good enough, what they base opinion on.

I would say playing football isn’t that helpful with understanding football tactics. The majority of good tactical analysis I hear/read is from journalists who have never played professional football. A good number of ex footballers that work as pundits are pretty crap when it comes to understanding the tactical side of the game.

Is he your love child ? He's far from the best player in the squad and has shown absolutely zilch as a winger. Banks is more direct, Walker is a shoo in for the number 10 slot, so he comes straight back in at the expense of either Chapman or Wright, and Wright causes far more problems. I don't need to have played football to tell me after 50 years of watching, that Wright is more of a threat than Chapman. If he could tackle I'd put him in Gilliead's place but there's no evidence of that either.
