    I like it, actually.

I like that they retained the shape, and I don't mind the bantam - it reminds me right away of other rebrands, like Sheffield Wednesday with the owl front and centre.

I think theirs is pretty naff, to be honest, ours is better than that.

What I'm not keen in on is the text. BC, AFC, it feels like a bit of an afterthought.

Would have preferred it like this:

Where it's clear and bold in font as well as form.

It's not poor brand management though, it's that you just can't use the current one in all circumstances. For example, as I mentioned before I've been working on a project that has involved enamel pins and there are some pretty big issues with the current design for them.

    bradford.jpeg

    1) Here is the first issue, the grass and the raised foot are too fine in detail, you would have to lose those if making soft enamel pins

    2) Then the Bantam, enamel pins require distinct black dividing lines around both the different colours and the outline of the badge. The Bantam lacks these, you would have to make changes to the bantam

    3) The lines here are most likely too thin, you would need to make them larger and but that would potentially need The Bantams resized

There may also be other issues as well, you would need a black border around the BC, black dividers between each coloured stripes

Some of these issues would be the same on other types of use and some will have their own things that need changed. No matter how much you try and manage the brand when you have no choice but to allow changes or you just rule out usage of the logo in a lot of places

I'm actually surprised they didn't put it to a vote.

Rolling it out like this is very exclusive, whereas the badge design should really be inclusive.

But then a vote would have just divided opinion anyway.

    Eh.

I'm still surprised the marketing team went for the presumptive approach rather than asking the fans.

That old badge really is crap when you look at it.

That black oblong with the AFC spaced apart is doggers.

I think the only thing I really like about it is the colours, although a single colour badge makes more sense.

And you're right about the shape and style. It's just not practical.

What don't you agree with? How can you not agree that there is reproduction issues when they have highlighted some of the issues with images showing the problem

It does seem to look better that way but when you look at the questionnaire response most people seem to think it's facing the wrong way currently. It kind of highlights tbh why you don't ask people their opinion as largely people may think they know what they want but in reality, it usually ends up they don't really

Personally I think they should have had 4 or 5 alternatives, and put it out to a vote for Season Ticket holders (stake holders if you will).

Having said that the club had a vote on changing the kick off times to 1.00pm and as far as I know they never released the results.

If they ask you for your time and opinion, then the least they could do is show the results of the vote!

or use the vector version, and adapt where needed, if we produced goods without checking proofs etc that is poor brand management

It's likely there is still some time for minor changes such as sponsors and badges. The lead time is more about giving them time to get things like the materials in place which the logo doesn't really impact that much. They probably have until the end of the year to get the smaller details finalised

Reality is is that you can never please anyone, whilst I also would've liked to see other possible designs you then get the issue of everyone having a different preference and end up pleasing nobody. Sometimes a decision does just need to be made and tbf they have done a pretty big consultation with the fan base and I think they've got the major things right.

Did the old badge need updating? Yes
Would I have designed it differently? Yes
Do I think it hits all the main requirements for a decent rebrand? Yes
    Is it an improvement? absolutely

This isn't a 're-brand' like what Cardiff or even Leeds did (thank god)
I actually think the club should take a bit of credit. I can't think of a single fanbase which has welcomed new branding but when you look back on a lot them with hindsight they are often seen a lot more favourable.

I think it'll grow on a lot of people

It would be better if the club just cut the crap in the lengthy spiel and say “it’ll save us X thousand per year with a simpler printed design. Is that ok? Yes / No”

Because I don't agree with it. I didn't realise my opinion needed a justification? I've just bought an away top, guess what? It has the badge on it. Just like every kit I've bought for 20 years has a badge on it. Why don't they just tells they want a fresher looking badge i stead of 78 pages of David Brent style guff. I read through those pages and nearly lost the will to live. But then I guess designers have to justify the invoice they submit when a kid at home could knock out a better looking badge for free.

In an interview before the Leicester game, Sparks said about 4500 fans of more than 20,000 in their database had responded and, if I recall correctly, about 67% of those were in favour of a time change. However, he also said that the act of asking the question had got a satisfactory response from the authorities, suggesting that they won't go ahead with the 1pm kick off. The interview is probably on the BBC website.
