Before my time, Polo, what's the story with Bond?

 

Very strange

 

Way back, 76 or something, we drew them away in FA Cup, there were a couple of postponements, I think to do with illness at our end. He banged on about how we should be chucked out of the cup. Long story short, Don Hutchins and Billy “golden boot” McGinley scored the goals and we won. Helluva a special train ride back.

 

The train journey there was a bit of a nightmare. Didn't we have to run to the ground because it broke down ?

 

Growing up in Yeadon it's only ever been one team I really hate.

Last time I was in Shipley ..... probably 20 + years it had a few kicking about

 

Yes it broke down a couple of times if I remember rightly. Once somewhere in the middle of nowhere, and then again close to the station in Norwich, which is when we all got off and followed Patsy to the ground

 

Was it planned by the police to keep us on the train till the last minute then straight into the ground
We had tickets in the open end amongst their fans not a bit of bother and plenty of well wishes for the next round against Southampton as the draw had already been made, great memories.

 

We drew Norwich in the fa cup, he was the manager at th time, late 70s
We had a flu epidemic at the club so the tie was postponed twice, Bond demanded we be thrown out if we couldn’t field a team ( arrogant tosser)
Imagine our delight when we knocked them out when the tie was eventually played.

Still has but the majority are TV fans and probably couldn't find bellend Road with a sat nav

 

Ah yes the bitter Bradford City/Norwich City rivalry. Instigated by someone that died ten tears ago in a match nearly half a century ago against a team we've barely played since and that the current fanbase knows nothing about. Some people just need to let go.

 

The problem is that the teams that most City fans consider to be our big rivals - Leeds and Huddersfield - have been at a much higher level for many years now.

Some older City fans feel a special bitterness towards Leeds because, during the successful Don Revie 'Super Leeds' era, many of their glory seeking classmates chose to support the club east of Pudsey rather than their local club at Valley Parade.

I'm sure that nearly all City fans are hoping that we get promoted and Huddersfield get relegated this season, so that we can resume hostilities in L1 next season.

There was a period in the nineties and early noughties when we and Burnley were in the second tier together and that was a bit of a rivalry. Made more pointed because there is a section of the Bradford Met population, around Keighley, who never accepted their town being subsumed into Bradford Met and who choose to support Burnley, despite them being Lancastrian. I used to work in Keighley and would often see Burnley shirts for sale in the local sports shops rather than City shirts

 

Many times at junior school had to fight to get my scarf back from the glory hunters. And taking glory hunting to the extreme one of the lads at school was a Derby fan
