That's what half the team needed tonight-winding up so they could move a bit faster. MH needs to find the right blend in the attacking third cos right now it is looking a bit disjointed.

My further thoughts after tonight and following first 5 games (having seen 4 of them)...

Harry Lewis - Encouraged by early showing
Brad Halliday - Ok but not convinced he is good enough for a team looking at promotion.
Andy Ridehalgh - Solid but needs to offer more going forward
Romany Crichlow - Defensively good at this level, has the pace and strength to cover any errors. Experience with us should see him play higher.
Matty Platt - Defensively solid but dwells on the ball too much and needs to quicken his play.
Richie Smallwood - Organises and leads, should be a huge part of the season. Needs to improve from set pieces if he is taking them and early days but given his higher pedigree does not switch play enough.
Alex Gillead - Surprisingly better as central midfielder and hoping he and Smallwood develop into good partnership
Jake Young - Has potential, not a great night tonight but tries to have a positive effect gong forward.
Harry Chapman - Should be affecting games at this level. didn't tonight but looking for him to become more influential as season progresses.
Scott Banks - Potential - Want him to be more aggressive going forward at times - will this come with more games?
Vadaine Oliver - First half tonight felt like not enough quality ball into him but was a little disappointed with his effort. Not willing to write him off yet.
    Kian Harratt - Real prospect
Andy Cook - First choice if fit - needs to be fit.

Not sure about Oliver but I'd love to see Harrett and Cook start at Hartlepool.

think we all would but that means playing two up top something that Hughes is going against :( and I don’t know why because Angol simply offers nothing at all

I know it may take time for players to gel but there is no imagination no final product! I have seen enough of oliver to know he does not suit our style of play especially keeping it grounded and passing it around. Even the win over newport both goals were individual goals and moments of brilliance from two players. Putting that aside i see no intent or threat of scoring. Every year we start with the same promise just to be let down we are not challenging for playoffs let alone autos. I really hope to be proven wrong but im sick of seeing this season in and out

Harratt and Cook a must to start on Saturday, the lad Harratt is a right handful and we need to get the best out of him while we have him. Hudders know what they have with Harratt, we need to use him well.

Point is as I said. Fans need to understand the club and not get ahead of themselves after one win.

Respectfully disagree, for me you can see where we're going to get the majority of our goals - not the clever set pieces, but from the wide men/central attacking midfielder, with Cook mopping up (hopefully) any odds and ends.

I've been disappointed with Vadaine, and I wouldn't be starting him again until he proves something off the bench, but I'm not disappointed with Cook (hit the post tonight), and I'm not disappointed with the skilful attackers like Chapman, Banks and Harratt and how we create chances for them.

Hughes is probably going to rotate the attacking players more than we'd like, but there isn't one correct solution here; the lads need to be on their toes and be ready to take the opportunities given to them, and unfortunately tonight all of Angol, Oliver and Young were nowhere close to being good enough.

Sorry but hughes can't keep coming out and saying put in a good shift more of the same next game.

Also him saying you can't stop them putting the cross in..well you can if angol doesn't give away cheap free kick.

Saying why would angol go down. Well because he dives a fact.

Il be honest. At this moment in time, Banks is not an amazing player at this level. he has potential an hopefully that is realised sooner rather than later but he didn’t really do much in the game. The only reason he stood out is because Young, Chapman an Angol don’t know how to take a man on

Eisa needs to get his shit together an get fit an stay fit. We need a winger who has pace to burn an can run at players an create an outlet for attack. One attacking winger is not enough

If we are gonna act like a big team in this league, we need to play like a big team. From the moment we kick off, we are on the front foot. No pissing about. Look at Liverpool. They don’t dilly dally at the back for ages, They get forward with urgency an create chances from the get go

Im not gonna blame Hughes for this yet, As I have witnessed this slow build up play from the last 5 managers weve had but he needs to find a solution and soon

Banks needs to improve, but mate, he was the one beating players and getting shots off in the first half...

To say he's not amazing is fair enough, but to say he didn't do much (first half especially) is pretty curious...

At one point, I wondered if anyone else was attacking.
