Having had time to reflect on your important questions, I can say this.

There was no need to step inside Primark, as they had established a cubotic area of immense coolness extending at least 15 feet from the front door of their emporium. Alas, therfore, i am unable to answer your first question.

None of the others had any cooling impact noted on the exterior of their shops. C&A's efforts were barely noticeable even once inside. Although I did notice they had transferred some of those waist high glass storage units from the Bradford store, possibly with some of the 1980's stock still strewn inside.

I find your last question a little pedantic.

yeah we were travelling back yesterday, really shocking to hear what happened. We’re at the north end so an hr and a half from Sleat. One of the women that was camping where we were, her husband is a policeman in Kyle so was on the scene, i think her folks live in Sleat too where it first started (far south end) so it must have been a very worrying trip back for her and her daughter. But thankfully they got him, i think two policemen from portree caught him, no armed units, so very brave. Sounds like they prevented more people being harmed or worse, hopefully those injured will be ok, very sad to hear the man from Sleat was killed in the incident. It makes you glad guns are not easy to get hold of.

Thanks IB. yeah, we caught up with the news when we got back and all unpacked. My daughter heard about it through her friends just before we left Forres so was in a panic about it, we weren’t 100% what had happened tbh. Mrs was talking to her friend that was at the site who was with the lady whos husband is the officer for Kyle, so she found out mote once we got home.
