Agreed. Let's try and draw a line and pray for an upturn!!

In fairness the performance was better on Saturday, against a very confident team. Nigel Clough, who isn't prone to praising the opposition, thought we played well.

I wouldn't go that far - but another step up from that will get us that win!!

I am perplexed as to why he's not even considered, but I've been reliably informed by a friend who's very fair to the players that he is rubbish.

But 'rubbish' or not. Him playing CB and Songo just in front of the back four as a CDM, will surely be better.

I'm puzzled why managers think that Watt, Sutton and Cooke or Daly should play together. We need two of them as three has them simply get in the way of each other.

Hopefully Pereira is fit and so we have some genuine width. If so I'd go 4/1/2/3 - with four defenders, OSongo, Watt, Sutton, then ask Gilly to play just behind the front two which needs to be Lavery for a bit more pace and Cook. Evans could be an option.

I remember Kelleher at Macclesfield away, when we drew 1-1 under Bowyer. He was excellent that day.
Won everything in the air against Vaughan and was surprisingly comfortable on the ball. If MH wants us to play out from the back he's got to be better than Songo'o.
Let's see if he gets a chance.

Looking at the fixtures this weekend there are 3 matches between teams below us with Orient vs Stevenage, Oldham vs Carlisle and Barrow vs Walsall. If the 1st 2 games end in draws and Walsall win that should keep the points gap to 23rd relatively the same even if we don't win. Whilst we keep at least 5 teams between us and 23rd it gives us a bit of extra breathing space with multiple results needing to go against us to be dragged right into the battle.

Hornby didn't come up through the ranks. He came from Port Vale.

Relegation. Had a look at past seasons. In 2016, Dagenham & York were relegated after only getting 34 points. The highest number of points yet still ending up with relegation seems to be 51 points with Barnet in 2013, next with 50 points, was Bristol Rovers in 2014. Those two seasons aside, then in the vast majority, a total in mid 40’s is sufficient to stay up, and in a few 40 alone would be enough.

Impossible to say how many points we'll need, but it's hard to see us getting many between now and the end of the season.

If fans manage to NOT turn on Hughes in that time I'll be impressed.

I still vividly remember Bowyer getting blamed after taking over with a bunch of absolute rubbish in the team.

The old adage ‘empty bottles make most noise’ comes to mind. Hughes and Hodges have to work with the current squad. I cannot see the vast majority on here, ‘turning’ on the Manager. I would hope that there is a mature appraisal of the current situation, and an acceptance that we will need to start again. I guess none of us are happy, but have to adopt a pragmatic approach to the situation.

I was agreeing with most of that until your suggestion that Lavery will bring more pace! Jamie Raynor was practically jizzing himself over Lavery on Saturday, yet all I saw him do was fall over or get muscled off the ball. As ever I would love him to prove me wrong

For me lavery and cook up top as him and Robinson and cook doesn’t work.
At the back hendrie and Paudi as centre half’s songo back in middle with Sutton
    Left side gillead and foulds
    Right side Evans and pereira
Evans played there for Portsmouth before joined us and is completely comfortable there no idea why tried moving him to midfield

I do have some faith that H&H can get the current squad to play more cohesively and with some resilience. Getting Vernam and Walker back will help. It may be a white knuckle ride, but I do not think we will be relegated.

I suppose H&H could n't quite understand why Evans is not a regular for us, and he did seem to be a bit more useful than usual after coming on on Saturday. But is Pereira ever going to play for us? Hopefully there will be a press conference this PM with injury up-dates. The training up-date vid. shows Angol in full training.

Supposedly he's now in contention, but remember that this directly coincides with Luton boss Nathan Jones publicly losing patience with the situation.

Jones clearly thinks he's soft, which is something he thought when he was sending him here.

So far, he's correct, he's signed a total bust.

He will be 23 in March! The number of senior appearances is noteworthy!!!! I guess as he is part of the Luton Under 23 squad, he will be out of Contract at the end of the season. At this rate his career will not even reach the heights of our former player, now at Newton (who)!

We need 3 wins from our remaining games which in paper is simple but that never the case :( still Hughes will have had a full week with them so I can see us getting something on Saturday a win would be great to ease the pressure off ............. let’s not forget we still have Scunthorpe to play at home they may have already given up by then .............

    Not looking good now.

And we actually played well yesterday. That I'm itself is a first!

Same points clear of bottom 2 as we were before yesterday's game, and 1 less game for them to catch us. Not happening

Not really the point Idle, Hughes as much as anyone knows we need a few positive results before the season is out, relying on other teams being more crap than us is not the way to progress

I think we'll give Forest Green a good game next week but not confident our defence will keep them out - if we lose and a few of those below us pick up points we could be about 5 points clear but played more games. Pressure is then going to mount because as well as we played yesterday we still lost again at home and MH cannot do anything about the team personnel bar those crocks coming back from injury.
I will feel a lot happier when we start picking up some points ourselves rather than relying on those below us
