I posted a few days ago that we should reach for the stars or die trying rather than slowly drowning in a sea of fiscally prudent mediocrity.
What really disappoints me about Rupps chairmanship is that initially it offered so much.
ER, Mr Football, knew everything, arrogant, self centred, wouldn’t listen, pig headed..........
Very similar personality to Geoffrey Richmond!
Except GR managed to convince Rhodes snr to bankroll his dreams,ER tried to do it on a shoestring. His marque signings Riley and Watt should have been ones for the development squad not the first team, youth surrounded by very average, over paid journeyman.
If ER had been backed would his tenure have been successful? Who knows, however his backer and business partner obviously didn’t have the minerals or interest to try.
The idea of signing up & coming German players was another great idea, but because of our owner’s unwillingness to spend, we signed players from der rote Löwe (the Red Lion, I love google translate).
Everything under Rupp has been done half arsed and on a shoestring.
If he has any credibility he has to live up to the original hype......
Send Sparks to Germany, twin us with a lower bundesliga side, twin academies, sell merchandise in each other’s shops, get their sponsors interested, get to St Pauli and Union Berlin, understand how edgy German sides market themselves. Build the brand then throw some money at the squad, build momentum, success really does breed success. Don’t be satisfied with promotion to league 1, set a plan for the championship, Mr Rupp, if you can’t or won’t do this please F**k off now, I’d genuinely rather be owned by American snake oil salesman

Everything looked pretty rosey in the first season when Rupp was opening his check-book.
Then for whatever reason everything imploded mid way through season 2, but Rupp still gave Edin the benefit of the doubt.
Season 3 was a car crash despite a £4million wage budget, so it's difficult to argue Edin wasn't backed by Rupp.

Edin's downfall was alienating everyone who got in his way and not sharing the loot... a good tyrant surrounds themselves with loyalists.
Perhaps if the hangers on felt more involved they wouldn't have gone bitching to Rupp.
Otherwise he might still be here and, who knows, his mad plans might have come to fruition.

I’m not here to defend Rupp or Rahic, but Watt signed after Rahic left and he didn’t do it on the cheap, Riley was on £5k a week or more, Wright, Akpan, Doyle, AOC, Payne were all on decent money. The money Rahic spent, spent properly, should have had us promoted to the Championship. To be fair I would be surprised if Rupp knew at the time how much Rahic was spending.

The world's moved on, people like Dean Hoyle just don't buy and invest in clubs for the love any more. People buy them to speculate.

Look at the PL. How many of their owners grew up as fans of the club?

Delia Smith maybe (although she's only part owner). Any others roll off the tongue?

Even in the championship, Barnsley are owned by Americans and there are other owners from China, Egypt and Saudi Arabia to name a few.

In fact, there are just 7 English owners in the whole of the Championship.

The point is, if we really want to progress as a club, we need to forget about this "white Knight from Bradford" who's a lifelong fan of the club and be ready to willingly accept real investment from far and wide.

Poleon and Reeves were the two big money wasters the summer we let McArdle n co go weren’t they. Both for fees.

(I know it was Meltham’s timescales that were jumbled and you only responded, Mike)

Spent "properly" MH - I would say the vast amount Rahic spent was wasted on dreadful players.

tbf Reeves looked a decent signing before it all went tits up after Hendrie-gate.
SMc forcing him to play through injury didn't help and he never looked the same player after that.

The first season's 'recruitment committee' signings like Vincelot, Wyke, Jones, NKP were fairly decent and seemed to compliment Parky's foundations.
Second season signings were a mixed bag.
The damage was done in season 3 when Rahic had free reign, signing shite like Wright and Riley on big contracts.
Andy O'Connor was probably best of a bad bunch

The first season Rahic was probably getting his feet under the table and will have gone with the flow on recomnendations. The fowing seasons was I know better and he also signed Akpan reputedly on big money. O’Donnell will not have been on peanuts either. So I stand by he did not spend properly.

That was basically what i was saying.
The real damage was done when he was calling the shots and had his puppet manager in situ

“The Trust invites comment from all Bantam’s fans, and requests that the Bradford City owner Stefan Rupp consults directly with the Trust before any decisions on any sale are taken.”

Only three or four days behind, absolutely useless are the supporters’ trust.

The Trust can get to **** they backed Rahic end of. Why they think they are the ‘voice’ of fans sums up the arrogance of the group. Beyond belief.
