Agreed; it doesn't have to go bad. MacAnthony is a good example of that. I would argue though just how "foreign" he is -- John Bull's other island and all that!

But the recent history of English football is littered with chancers (and worse), domestic and foreign, who've talked big and delivered little save the (almost) destruction of their purchases. People see the pound signs of the Premier League, for example, but fail to realise just what is needed, in terms of work and finance, to get there, and even more, stay there.

Hereford Utd; Chester -- and wasn't that chap involved also with Barrow at some point?; Charlton... Even us -- we have now a seemingly benign hands-off foreign owner, but how we clamour for a bit more of a hands-on approach! It will be interesting to follow Wrexham's progress. I think we all like to see fairy stories come true, but how do the chances of that compare to the chances of 0-5 at Wembley?

Perhaps I am just being a really miserable old geezer today, but then again I did get my booster shot yesterday. As a result today has been a wasted, tired-out, achy, flu-y day! At least the arm is less sore; I might even be able to make competent mournful noises on the guitar tonight!

Any sale will be a gamble. At the moment, I prefer the devil we know.

Hope you feel better soon, the aches and soreness won't last, I agree with a lot of what you said and appreciate this post backing it up as well.

Two things, one good, one bad:

Cons: I don't particularly like the idea that lower league football clubs are seen as 'lottery tickets', to be purchased cheap with the intention of winning big further down the line, but be that as it may, it could work out for the better...

Pros: I don't feel I know this Rupp devil at all, so I can't be part of the 'better the devil you know' camp - the man is an enigma, a distant shadow, a name but nothing more. I wasn't sure about wanting Lawn and Rhodes sell up, but they did, now as far as I'm concerned I'd be actively encouraging Mr Rupp to sell because he isn't achieving half of what I'd like or expect from a wealthy owner.

 

Ta. I've read that the reaction to the booster can be much more noticeable than the reaction to the first shots; that has certainly been my experience.

Agree with your 'con' and, for the most part, with your 'pro.' I'd suggest that Rahic's actions certainly embarrassed, if not humiliated, Rupp amongst his peers. (Ever see, or read, Alan Plater's "Oliver's Travels?" As our heroes are pondering ways to gain entry into a minor villain's home, Oliver asks "What does every man have?" The answer is (of course!) "an ego.") As a result I don't think Rupp will actively do us harm.

But, his passivity may well do so. So yes, I too would prefer a different owner, but someone along the lines I've sketched above. Failing such a person, I'd prefer we try to "improve" the current owner!

Worth noting Man City are dabbling in the sale of NFTs. Christine's recently started selling some digital art. It could become more mainstream in a couple of years.

The more i think about it, the more sense it makes they're creating pressure on the negotiations for the real club they're interested in, by portraying interest in us.
