I think he's overthinking some things a bit too much too. If you listen to his interview, he was second-guessing that the keeper had seen his preseason penalties and would go left. So he changed it up and went right... And nearly got saved. Your body betrays you when you are thinking like that in the moment, and tiny cues would be picked up.

I also think given his need to have a successful season and how it's been portrayed as sort of "last chance saloon", he could be getting a bit too in his head. He does come across as somebody who overanalyses.

He also said he's never played in front of a crowd like that and he felt like it was a premiership game.

I think when he relaxes into things he'll be fine. His movement and work rate was very good.

He talks really well, and he actually sounds really grateful to the club and like he really really wants to be here... Genuinely. Which is refreshing. Hopefully he stays this bright even if things get hard.

Well what a game guys we were not brilliant by any stretch but there’s something about these players that makes me think we will always just edge it early days I know.

Anyway I was in the posh legends suite today and had a piss next to threlkeld really nice guy and said he’s back in two weeks. Let’s face it we are playing without a centre midfield and getting points the future looks bright!

What's happened to our covid protocols? I noticed today quite a few of the players mixing... Especially with the kids... I know it's a nice thing to do but statistically the people most likely to have covid with no symptoms are the kids who are unvaccinated.

The last thing we want are enforced abcenses cos of covid when we did so well to keep it under control last season.

If he's never played in front of a crowd like that then it's not surprising he was nervous, especially since the kick was going to determine the game's result.
Hopefully, getting the two goals and the crowd's appreciation will do wonders for his confidence.

Yes, his movement was very good. He made one fantastic run when Watt almost picked him out with a pass but slightly overhit it. It would have put him in behind the defence.

 

They have been lifted, and I'm cool with that. Sat back in my seat today and it was like it never happened... But it's still about and you'd think the club would want to be better safe than sorry. We already have three injuries as it is.
