I think it would be true to say, the earlier you book something either on the train or at a hotel the cheaper it is. So the longer we don't know the more expensive the trip becomes.

Under normal circumstances I would agree, Mike but these are not normal times and things have changed in timing and cost terms. Don't take what I say here as gospel but:-
Travel by car - very difficult, the M5 between North Bristol and Taunton is a car park most days with holiday traffic, yesterday by 8.30 am the radio was confirming that and a lot of schools are still to break up! Two weeks ago a friend of mine came back mid week from Cornwall, his mate and wife left later at 10.00 am and got to Bristol by 6.00 pm. I also know my old firm have had great issues getting trucks out of the depot at Bridgewater with traffic. This will mean a really early start for there and back in the day.
Train - fares are hiked but can't give guidance, you need to check travel websites. To do it in the day from Wakefield where I go from, there is 7.23 via Kings X and Paddington, arrives 12.58 or 8.23 direct arrives 13.44. C

Sorry fat fingers!! Coming home the 17.27 is direct, arrives Wakefield 23.12
Hotels - Wow - prices jacked. We checked Exeter the day after fixture release and they were double pre pandemic and have since changed daily. I haven't decided yet but colleagues found Torquay cheaper but checking Friday most are fully booked for Friday before the game, others are down to the last room and prices were going up by the hour. One I looked at increased £40 in two hours.

All in all difficult and EFL dithering will turn it into a long day on the train I fear.

They are taking the rise a bit these days I’m looking at some hotels for a cycle tour and even Travellodge want £160 for a night in some places. I don’t mind a bit of supply and demand pricing but it’s outrageous at the moment. I’d forgotten the school holidays, I used to work near the M5 in Somerset, proper PITA these time of year.
One thing I have noticed with Premier Inn is if you check the prices a few times it seems to put the price up.
Could be worse though, it could be a midweek game.

Had a look at the train journey. I would have to drive into Manchester, as the train times to my local station, mean it is not possible to make the journey in one day. The 8.27 a.m. arrives Exeter at 13.44. Return 17.27 arrive Manchester 23.24. Current cost £142.10. As @Edin Nowhere@Edin Nowhere comments, prices rise closer to the day.
Agree totally with @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler remarks about driving in a day, a hell of a journey especially on a Saturday at the peak of the holiday season.

One of the few good things about being (slightly) deaf, apart from not being able to hear car or burglar alarms in the night, is being eligible for a disabled railcard for a third off.

For those long journeys, certainly worth looking at an app called train split. Can get same journey as you stated above for just under £100....

Would be a perfect game for iFollow but the powers that be are stuck in a rut regarding the rules for the lower divisions

A quick trawl of all other L2 teams who are away on 7/8 shows only Port Vale advertising tickets and travel.
I'm currently still working on the premise that we are going, let's hope for an early announcement this week.

Boris has left it up to the individual and it looks like the club would rather fans wore a mask but won't be able to enforce it. Personally I will be wearing my Bradford City mask but that is my personal choice. We all have different views on life and the pandemic, which is why this forum works so well.

You are lucky if you can get to Exeter in five hours on an August Saturday.

My last trip to Newquay was 12 hours there and 8 hours back and thats only 90 minutes or so further.
