Thought Scunthorpe were poor to be honest but had more pace and attacking intent than us. AOC not a right back and offers little in this position, Scales ineffective, Cook isolated through most of it. Having said that, somehow we did create chances and should have scored at least 1 if not more. I will not result to the virtual meltdown of some on here in the same way that I did not get carried away with the start T&S made. The squad was in such a poor place in in December/January that changes were needed and a number were made which a large number of posters lauded on here. It did not make us a finished product and anyone expecting to change what was such a poor squad in one transfer window is deluded. This is in no way offering excuses for Trueman and Sellars, they will know there is a great deal of work to be done. The aim now has to be to finish strongly and further revamp during the summer. I am sure that some/lots will disagree with that opinion but we made some positive strides in January and the expectation/demand should be that this continues this summer.

Interesting that Trueman said that the team were too expansive at the start of the game, and believes that contributed to their early goal. Clearly Trueman will stick with the 4-3-2-1 going forward and try and make us harder to beat again, rather than attacking teams from the off

 

Vernam has shown glimpses, but he's not getting on the ball in dangerous areas anywhere near enough. I think Cook and Rowe have both added some quality but neither look like they're being used properly.

Not sure the poor lad knows whether he is coming or going with this system, he has started receiving the ball and passing it back half the time, has he been told ‘keep possession’? Needs to be putting full backs under pressure they had a player making a debut tonight must have been laughing his tits off.

for me both him or Vernam are equally as bad right now, it just isn’t working in midfield, that includes Watt who looks done, and needs a major rethink and changes.
