January 2021 Transfer Window

Ironside for Cambridge did well today. If we're going to continue with 4-2-3-1 then I think we need that kind of player up top.

He was a handful and held up play well and then the 3 (if the right three) would push on past him.

We need someone up top to push on and create space between midfield and defence for the three to make use of.

 

A fit novak with Rowe replacing Cooke works for me.

 

McAleny would be the one for me. Think he’d suit the 4-2-3-1 better in behind Rowe/Novak

 

He will certainly shoot more than all of Cooke, Pritchard/Evans and Clarke all together.

We shouldn't underestimate the effort those three put in though. They all get up and down the pitch. Rowe won't do as much defensively so it will be a risk/reward decision to play him instead of one of those three.

 

Rowe will give more than Cooke in an attacking sense. But I'd imagine, less defensively. Cooke doesn't give enough in terms of goals, assists, key passes, but he does work hard for the team and is part of the reason we've become more solid in this system.

 

Agree Cooke had a solid game today. Nothing ground-breaking but effective to a point.

Rowe will threaten the goal more than Cooke. Cooke could have had a couple of shots today but didn't. OK, Rowe also didn't score and equally did Cooke stop them from scoring?? Hard to say!

This is the T&S challenge.

They have found a good formation. It makes us solid. How do they adapt it so we score more and win more?

That makes sense unfortunately we found ourselves in a similar situation when we tried to sign Kristian Dennis the lad from Chesterfield a few years ago everything was ready to go until Chesterfield lost out on Clarke-Harris who went to Coventry and scuppered the deal with Chesterfeild with regards letting Kristian Dennis leave, but you can understand why Oldham want cover first, keep up the good work.

Hopefully true but he said a few days ago Nicky Adams was not joining and he did. If you do want to look out for solid tweets someone called Dmaarms confirmed the Rowe transfer well before it happened, apparently be knows a board member. Let's see what happens early next week or after the Southend game.

 

McAleney deffo the type of signing we should be making, good player at a good age. It seems the penny has dropped with the board how poor this league is, a bit of investment if spent right will easily get us out of this mess.

 

My Oldham mate has said the Mclaney deal is done and dusted.

Because I'm imagining if the deal was done and dusted prior to yesterday's game, he wouldn't have played, and no way has it been sorted out overnight so.....

 

In the set up we are using so well at the moment where is Mclaney going to play. If Novak is going to be out long term we need a player like that to replace him

 

He’s a big old fan. Their owner seems to be uninterested and they think a fire sale is about to happen/happening.
