False equivalence, matters of city wont cost hundreds of thousands of jobs and tens of millions in lost GDP. I also never said anyone shouldn't have an opinion so please don't put words in my mouth mate you're better than that

That's what you were implying with your comment "I get the impression a large subset of brexit supporting folks here are retired and dont ever actually have to deal with half the rubbish thats been inflicted on everyone". that's the way it reads to me, us old brexiteers shouldn't have a say because we wont be around to see the devastation Brexit has caused, pretty clear to me.
Hence my Bradford City comparison you donf attend so you cant pass comment ?.

It wasnt you but it looks like his reply to one of my posts has been edited by a mod, #3279 and other replies deleted.
The post was about us being able to go ahead and roll out the vaccine and as yet the EU countries are slow on the take up shall we say, I'd suggest that's a positive we got in early wouldnt you ?.

We are 3/4 weeks into brexit the EU 27 countries haven't even ratified it as yet, get back to me in 12 months when we will have a better idea going forward and if it's the doom and gloom many of the remainers are quoting then we can debate the positives/negatives going forward , but 4 weeks in is a little early.

I agree. I was merely commenting on the difference between your longer term perspective regarding the hoped for benefits of Brexit, contrasted with your total write off of all Remainer concerns based on one short term prediction (by the worst Chancellor in living memory) that didn't happen.

Well we can agree on the worst Chancellor in living memory, then again Brown didnt cover himself in glory selling gold at a low price and his pensions debacle.

As for edited posts - its because one of your pals complained about being called a 'boomer' on another post the word 'idiots' was removed. Such a delicate bunch of old lads. Its almost like you never had any of lifes troubles to keep you well grounded in reality.

That Generation you claim was so bad had to help rebuild a nation torn apart and destroyed by war, It had to put up with rationing until the late 50s, Yet built the NHS from nothing, Built a free education service from nothing built 3 million council houses to eradicate homelessness and poverty that was rife, They built a nation that prospered and rebuilt a country that people like you could never do and only run down those heroic efforts to build a country that you obviously despise and insult those that have worked so hard to give you an upbringing they could only dream off,

And yet im not ashamed of that comment.

You really have grandiose opinions of yourself. Can you tell me what you did specifically to rebuild our nation?

The last time i checked it was Marshall Aid that rebuilt our country.

Whereas what the boomer generation did do was to take free education, cheap housing and much much more and concentrate it into their own hands. You may be the heroic guy who saved the UK but we are the ones paying for it. £30k of debt after leaving uni, has to be paid back, buying a house requires almost an entire years worth of salary for some to even be considered, high taxes and austerity politics because your generation messed the economy.

And you have the audacity to question my desire to be british just because i dont subscribe to the view that going backwards takes us forwards some how. Or that i owned a house abroad and wanted to live there, for my family and future. How dare you question my britishness when I merely see a different path for us to be a great nation than yours.

Yes im an abrupt person and I speak my opinion but dont think of yourself as being any different.

Let's all calm down a little.

I'll make a suggestion to you all. Stop the petty insults and disparaging comments aimed at others who don't share your opinions and keep your posts focused on the issues under discussion and not directed at the poster.

If you choose not to follow the suggestion, other actions might well follow.

Calm Down, No one especially me has accused you of your Britishness, Only you can decide that. As for the Marshall plan you should read history, The Government of the day wasted the £2.7 Billion spending little on modernising industry as Germany and Japan did, Plus it took us till 1996 to pay our lend lease loan off to the USA for war arms, As for your University fees I actually agree with you, The entry levels should be set higher and paid by general taxation, As for taxation itself the "boomers" as you call them paid much higher taxes than they do today, Up until Thatcher the level of income tax for ordinary taxpayers was up to 30p in the £ not the 21p paid today,
Am not going to reply to you further as it is pointless as you get to personal.

I thought it had been claimed that Nissan were definitely going to move out of the UK if any customs or trade frictions became reality.

Doesn't seem to be the case so far.

you read my post wrong then mate, and its not about not having a say. i think its just very easy to say this is all going to work out great and breezily dismiss any and all evidence to the contrary when it wont adversely impact your life. its not about people not being around to see the devastation caused because it's going tits up already. again its all well and good saying teething problems and will work out in the long term, but especially after covid a large amount of businesses simply wont be able to survive until then.

And thats why the lib dems got rightly spanked at the election. I've never personally argued for anything like that so don't lump me in with that lot because I think the lib dems are worse than the tories haha.
