I know what it was, Hanson was back from injury, well 60% of him was..

 

From reading about Leigh on the Bury forum he can't defend or cross but he goes through phases where he plays brilliantly. He sounds like he has the potential to become a very good player but lacks the consistency in his game. He almost eptomises the Bury team in general: full of talent but doesn't always demonstrate it. Under the right environment I think he'd be a solid signing for us.

If we go with 4 at the back and have Riley and Leigh bombing forward, I think we are going to need another rock at CB.

 

I think Chicksen gets some unfair stick on here and am surprised at the people who want him out. We need to stop comparing him to Meredith and be realistic. Prior to his injury he looked a decent replacement and probably our best crosser of a ball. I would be surprised if we can get better without shelling out.

 

He can cross, I agree. But he cannot defend, he's too weak and has no pace. I'd be disappointed if we couldn't do better.

Leigh isn't all that, he's probably got the same level of defensive ability as Chicksen, however he's faster and just has much better physical attributes.

I would take him back as a squad member but we need someone else to fight for that right wing spot. A lot of depends on the weekly wage...

 

I quite liked Leigh when he was here and was sorry to see him go. I agree he has more bulk, I just don't think he is a massive upgrade, and if we did go for him I would still keep Chicksen

 

Weren't we already interested in a permanent deal for him? Be surprised if he wasn't on the radar this summer now he's been released

 

I am not sure TBH. McCall liked him, as did Grayson so depends on Edin and Greg.

He will only get better IMO. He just needs to add more goals and assists to his game.

 

Even as a bench warmer, I'm not sure what I feel about Gilliead coming on as a sub to try and impact a game. He doesn't offer goals and assists and can't defend either, so what would he offer?

I wouldn’t wet my pants over it but I’d have Leigh and Gillead back, both young, experienced at this level and can improve.

 

I see Chris Long released by Burnley - a player we ave been linked with a few times. Scored 9 goals for Northampton last season - don't think he is an out and out striker though.

 

And spends half his time getting knocked off the ball

 

Very poor Gilliead do not know what a lot of people saw in him seemed to be scared of the ball half of the time.

Let's face it, Tawheed .......... Bury as a club were dysfunctional. How could ANY player show their skills or potential, when the plan was so divided - Be it at an individual level, or 'trying' to be part of a team ?
But yes, providing the 'terms' are right, I'd take Leigh back.
(We released him too early, IMO - But the lad wanted games ! )

Edit ............ Hasn't Joe Riley joined City for the same reason - wanting games ?
