Incredible story about signing Schwarzer and Geoffrey Richmond loved telling it. He was on trial for Manchester City and played for their reserves against our reserves in the good old days when we used to have a reserve team. I was at the game and he had a blinder. His parent club was Kaiserslautern and they wanted about 150 K for him but incredibly Manchester City were skint and couldn’t raise the cash. Once Geoffrey got to know he immediately did the deal with Kaiserslautern and we signed Schwarzer. Amazing to think now when you look at Manchester City ,and us who are usually skint. What a difference a couple of decades ago.

Still think it’s one of the best saves I’ve seen.

Stuart is of a 'certain age' and continues to live in it. We know of him at his best in the past. The McCall we love and admire so much. Today's McCall seems out of touch with current coaching and managing expertise and new ideas. He seems to hark back to a 'better time' when he did all his coaching badges and life was simpler. He just hasn't kept up with the myriad of changes that have occurred in football. He seems to be anti-social media because he doesn't appear to really understand it and the voice it gives to fans. In short, he's currently a dinosaur. I would love to see him become an Honorary Director of the club. An Ambassador. In other words, please please allow him to bow out gracefully as our current manager.

Bronco, thank you so much for reminding me of this, in this shit show we find ourselves, one of my all time favourite matches. Maybe it was the drink but only a few short months before we’d spawned a win at home against the mighty LFC. That day we’d shown proper “blood & Mustard” attitude and somehow crashed the premier league party.
That heady day at Anfield it was as if we were playing as equals, and maybe I had beer goggles on but I thought we bossed the game, thought we were so unlucky not to get at least a point, we looked and played like a top six premier team........came away with so many positives after that game, we were for a few short months the best team in the north!!!
A fantastic party in the sun with a sold out away end......feel sorry for the younger generation who missed it.

Didn't Richmond pay for him to fly back straight away and virtually sign him on the plane

Those were good times in the 90s under Richmond. The Schwarzer deal (selling him on to Middlesbrough a few months later for £1.5m!). Chris Waddle, Beagrie etc, the players from the EU. The players we brought in to take us up to the Premier League, although I think they were financed by the Rhodes family.

Yes by Daddy Rhodes. Junior was still running a tatty souvenir production line in Pickering and joined the board to keep his old man company

Give this a listen, Schwarzer talking about the move in his own words (fast forward to 17 mins), the whole 50 mins is worth listening to if you get chance.

Good memories, we did look good that day and the atmosphere was brilliant until Heskey? spoiled our day. Yes we went into freefall that season but in the first couple of games we looked at home in that league.

Remember him queuing for a drink with us at the Inter Toto Cup game in Holland. He played for NEC Breda. We went there for a few beers.

OMG........followed by Chelsea at home, That night Benito took over my all time city hero mantle from John Hendrie, best performance I’ve ever seen from anyone in City colours, Waddle ran him close, Palin V Everton was a fantastic one off (even Banks played well that night!)
As read earlier from Bronco Steiner V Everton away, brilliant........
But I’ve never witnessed someone so good in a city game as Carbone that night........heartbreaking it ended so badly!!
