Agree with that. Good post and why I posted the other day McCall needs to go back to basics and stop thinking he has built a play off chasing side. We are far from it. Go hard to beat and solid and we will pick up enough points to steer clear of a relegation battle. Find a system all the players know and understand and stick to it and only change it for injuries etc.

 

3 points is a must tomorrow night. A clean sheet would be nice too but I’d take any win.
Our next 4 in the league after that are Exeter at home (4th in table and did well last season), salford away, Leyton orient (3 points off of play offs) Cheltenham home (3rd the league.

Great point, and its why I'm worried. Neither our manager or squad is geared towards grinding our results. McCall wants to play expansively and when things are going well and he has talented attacking players, it can work well. But he's never really been a manager to turn a negative tide. And we lack the steel and playing characteristics to play functional football. Our centre backs are poor defensively, we don't have a ball winner in midfield and if the plan was/is to play on the break - we don't have any pace up front or out wide.

 

I disagree with your statement "...he has built a play off chasing side". He hasn't this time, he didn't the first time and in his second stint he added, a bit, to a side and mentality that was already there. Even Cullen and Marshall were already in the fold. He took a winning side and pushed them on.

In his first stint here, in this stint and at Scunthorpe he has taken over clubs in need of a re-build, who in the middle of a slump and has demonstrated non of the qualities needed to change that. There is not a single point in his managerial career where he has demonstrated he can do this. He admitted he didn't know what to do at the end of his second stint and at Motherwell walked away when it all started going wrong.

Time to bite the bullet and fire him.

That's not what he's said. He's saying that McCall needs to disavow himself of any notion that he HAS built a playoff side, because he plainly hasn't. He's assembled a lower mid-table (at best) group of players and needs to approach games accordingly.

I think you’ve misread what I’ve put. McCall said in an interview the other day we are a play off chasing side and have one but not an automatic promotion one. Something along those lines.

We also need Two centre-backs we have confidence in and I have no confidence in any of them (Young Staunton the exception)These defenders have been at the club for two or three seasons and our defence just keeps letting us down,no leader in any of them and that’s why Stuart keeps using three centre backs.

The midfield also is missing a leader but watt has been the most consistent performer but his side kick Cooke has been awful this season,maybe staunton in midfield for this game for me.

Up front we after go with Donaldson,we have no one else but his striking partner must be the young kid from wolves who must be given some games to start and prove he’s good enough.

 

And I forgot,take the captaincy off O’Donnell and give it to someone who can influence a game like young watt.
