Match Thread FA Cup 1st Round - Away v Tonbridge Angels

It's come to something when we are the 'underdogs' in the first round......

 

Trouble is a lot of people on here think we are

 

Well, with all the crap that is going on in the world, we (Angels) are blown away with the generosity of Bradford City fans. Last time I looked the justgiving page was over £1200 which, putting it mildly, is f&&king unbelievable. Just wanted to say a big 'THANK YOU' from all down hear at Longmead. Running our club on limited income at the moment is a testing time, as it is for all non-league clubs, but with generosity such as this, it gives us all hope for the future of our club.

As for the draw itself, it is a crying shame that what will be the biggest game in the Angel's history will be witnessed by zero fans on the terraces. With Longmead having a capacity of 3k, I'm 100% sure that it would have been a sell out. Let's just hope that it's one of the featured games on TV.

By the way, all this reverse psychology malarky about you being the underdogs isn't working.... if you can just keep the score below double figures that would be much appreciated!

 

Nah, don't hold back, go for it, our keeper and defence will help you with that, hope you get another good draw in round 2 ...

 

As you can tell from reading several posts on here we're not having the best of times at the moment but I think we'll give you a spanking, no offence.
Hope the Just Giving generates you guys plenty of brass but on the day we'll have too much for your lads IMO.

Pray, tell us Bronco, where are the goals going to come from to give anyone a spanking. We may have the lions share of possession, but can you, hand on heart, say we could hand a spanking out. If we manage to win, it would be by the odd goal

 

Get back to me after the game and give me stick by all means if we dont win this comfortably, you've watched football long enough to know one result can change everything,
I believe Manchester United under Sir Alex were a game away from sacking him when they beat Oxford United I think in a Cup tie , the rest is history.

 

Given the players seem to have trouble finding each other, be grateful if the coach finds the ground, or even finds Kent

 

Considering we have a team of pub standard footballers, with no goal threat, I’m struggling to find the evidence that we can hand out a ‘spanking’. One of the worst professional sides in England versus a team who have their biggest fixture in their history, I won’t be surprised if we get rumbled.

 

We can ask our keeper and defenders to try and keep the score to under 10 but they lose interest quickly so I wouldn't back against you getting to 12 to be honest!

 

That's your opinion and resent performances suggest it could be a close game, I disagree as bad as we have been we will have too much for the Angel's IMO.

 

I wasn't giving you stick Bronco. I just asked why you think we are capable of giving any team a spanking, no matter what league the opposition. Our strikeforce, especially without the injured Novak, is dreadful and there are no goals in it. Our midfield players are not exactly renowned for scoring, so just doesn't see where the goals will come from to give the Angels a spanking

I know your not, I just think although were not playing great these guys are 2/3 divisions below us and I believe well beat them easily.

Maybe I'm being a bit over enthusiastic but we need some good news and certainly a good result from these guys.
