Not for me. The game on Tuesday is utter Mickey Mouse and it needs to be used to give players that need a run out a game to build more match fitness.

A week Saturday is when the football season really starts and that's when it's serious time.

 

Bet you took the league cup results of 2012-13 season seriously?

 

Yesterdays result meant everything. Look at how we played, some style, confidence on the ball, movement of it, defensively organised. Could have scored 4 maybe 5 goals easily. Finished the game strongly.
I think its £5 grand for the winner as well.

I saw what looked like a team that will play for each other unlike the last 2 seasons.

So yes that result and performance was very encouraging and lets see how the squad pans out as more signings come in.

The first round wasn't the first game of the season after a 3-4 month of none competitive football.

As for the 5k? what are you? Rhodes? Why would you care about 5k? My Rolex is worth 3 times more than that. If we are worrying about 5k then boy we are in trouble.

I dont see anyone worrying about the 5k. Was just pointing it out as a positive from the day.

Last game of the 2011/12 season - 5th May 2012.
So yes, that is just over a 3 month gap as is normal every off season

 

Winning is always a positive. Winning breeds confidence and at this stage that's the most important thing.

We were always winning yesterday. The season starts next week and that's when its important. Not yesterday, not Tuesday.

No, not clutching. Many clubs have said they will be using the 1st round of the league cup as a pre season game because not had many decent pre season games and need to get some players up to speed.

I take nothing away from our win and its great we did but I can't read anything into it.

In fact I honestly feel we will get off to a good start in the league because we had 12-14 contracted players and not had to do a major rebuild. It's November onwards I think we will really start to struggle if we don't make some decent signings over the next month.

 

This season will utilise the full squads of club like never before. Take the rugby league for instance, some clubs are literally scraping a team together due to players catching covid 19. And it will affect us at some part of this season. And with games being so close together the risk of injury is greater if players risk playing with niggles or strains.

 

Then people wonder why even Champions, league 1 and league 2 clubs don't play their strongest teams in this competition and PL clubs play their under 23's in it.

Not enough money for me.

A week on Saturday were away at Forest Green Rovers, a more important game is this coming Saturday home to Colchester United .

 

It was a competitive game read Bolton’s managers comments pre match he really wanted to win. Of course it’s only one match and no one knows how good Bolton are but it was a good start
