    Good to see.

    Hope they get a couple of chances and can provide squad depth.

    We have a few first team spots to fill, of course, but I'm happier seeing these lads get chances than all those players we signed for Edin's development squad.

    Connor Shanks is a central midfielder, equally comfortable in an attacking or defensive role as he's very good technically.

    Yes, and after a certain point the miseries will be back with the 'just because he's a local lad doesn't mean we should support him' junk.

    Really? Whoever the Bradford City researcher is for Football Manager thought he was by far the best player in your academy (4.5 star potential, next closest is Staunton at 4 star). Admittedly as judging u18's is tough FM can be pretty hit and miss on them but would have expected him to be the first one offered a pro deal and most likely to make a breakthrough.

    Unless ofc he turned down a deal like he has done in Better Than Bowyer (Along with Sikora and Cousin-Dawson

    There were rumours he had a trial at Sunderland, he might have got a better deal elsewhere or hope to at least.

    Certainly would make sense. As I said while you can't take the starting potential in FM as gospel, you don't often see a player the researcher thinks is head and shoulders better than those retained let go without other reasons

    Based solely on FM, Daniel Francis as well seems to have some promise. Those 3 are the real-life academy players (got a couple of Regens that show promise but they are obviously fake players) in my save that look as they may be at least good League 2 players (or as I said in the Better Than Bowyer episode that went up earlier today with Goldthorp I can see him being League 1 or better). The 4 who have signed pro deals I think they may just about be adequate squad players in league 2 level but most likely non-league

    Mind you the club see them on a daily basis and have seen them actually play so maybe they are better placed to judge

    Why the sarcasm? Promoting 4 kids into the first team to boost the numbers should be viewed a good thing. How on earth are they ever meant to develop if we don't promote them? Whether they are good enough remains to be seen but the other 91 clubs in the country do exactly the same year on year. Some work out, some don't. Every pro footballer in the world came from an academy.

    Ridiculous comment.

    We know Cooke is desperate to come back so we can only hope we do a deal there, it would be silly not to. Get a hard bastard in there too, preferably an older head and it's a decent blend in that area.
