It's the same principle used by one prolific poster on here. Post enough BS and eventually something will prove to be correct! ;)

It’s a strange one, as I was one who was happy to see him leave and would be one of his critics towards the end. Without the childish name calling such as donkey as some referred to him.

But if you had a discussion about Hanson in say 2014/15 he had very few if any real critics that he had towards the end.

It was a bit of a magnetic principle towards the end in my opinion with both sides as bad as each other. You had some who would just call him no matter what which would start an argument, then those who would jump down your throat for a legit criticism which no player should be immune to. This is the main reason why there were so many arguments about him, I tried my best to stay out of them as he always gave his all for us but stayed probably a year to long.

Deserves a lot of respect though.

Its pretty much undisputable that Hopkin wasn't our worst ever signing. £2.5m for absolute shite. What did he muster up? 10 games?

Best signing - Beagrie £50k or Wells £0.

I can’t remember tbh, but I had run ins with various posters about some of his performances. But I’d never resort to calling him some of the names that were being branded about at the time.

McGinley and Hopkin were both terrible. met McGinley a bit back and he came across as a bit of a Bolton billy big balls with a baseball cap on permanently and name dropping loads of Ex pro footballer names. Bolton, do me a favour.

Robbie Blake was a cracking signing for 300k

I'll throw in a Ron Futcher. Not here long enough to be the best, but loved watching him play and score.

Same era, Ian Banks bought in from Town after Stuart left. Big disappointment. There were a few that summer if i recall.

Ron Futcher one of the slowest players I have ever seen but what a positional sense and what a finisher.

Can’t deny Jimmy was a goodun’ at 7.5k. Disappointed that we didn’t get to see him get 100 goals for us, not too far away.

Utter crap - McLean, given what I think we were hoping for from the “goal machine”.

On another note, transfers going out - Wisdom has been giving for a while but McBurnie is an absolute god-send in this troublesome year!

Mark Schwarzer. Signed for 350k and sold for 1.5m 13 games later. Great business. Shame he wasnt here longer though, best keeper we've ever had in my opinion.

Schwarzer did a piece on his career with TalkSport recently (and his time here), worth a listen for anyone interested - https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1588532400/

Thanks. Lost my City mojo for a period. Lockdown and absence of football has helped me reset the City button. Missing the moans and disappointment of being a City fan again. So here I am.

I've gotta raise you Matt Clarke.

Schwarzer the sexier name for a City dream team but performance alone while wearing a City shirt Clarke was out of this world and was on the cusp of an England call up.

Like Bruno and Blake, stuff happening behind closed doors derailed his City career.

Clarke would be the one to run him close. And I think theres a case to say Clarke was better on the basis of his performances being in the PL rather than the championship and he was here longer too. But if you compare the careers of both, Schwarzer played at the top level for longer, for several clubs and he was one of the best keepers in the league while doing so. Brilliant player. I was actually at his debut, away to Charlton. I've never seen a debut performance like it. He was sensational.

I get depressed looking back - for a few years there, we were a properly run, ambitious and progressive club.
