The reason they are putting their lives on the line, is because it's highly contagious, and there is a shortage of ppe, which is well documented.

To make the assumption that labour would have stockpiled ppe is ridiculous, which is what your doing with your comments recently.

They may of had more workers in place.... but it doesn't make a difference that these people are putting their lifes in danger.

Anyhow. I will continue to applaud these brave people that are trying to help everyone they can, whilst putting their lives on the line
As would labour.... but would they have had stockpiles in place? I think not

Sorry, but I dont feel guilty for applauding the NHS Workers, nor can I imagine anyone else.

You have a very strange take on people showing their appreciation

I’m just going to leave you with this:

“Ever since the early 1950s the budget has been increasing, but the scale of those rises has varied quite considerably.

The average rise has been just over 4%. The biggest rises were seen under the Labour governments between 1997 and 2010 when the average annual rise was about 6%” :

Did you cheer along with them when they voted down pay rises for nurses? Or when they voted to decrease the benefits of vulnerable people?

It seems that they are -- that was one of the stories out of the States, that stockpiled ventilators had to be repaired before they could be used. I don't remember the article saying just what was wrong, though, just giving a quote from an official in the state concerned.

The steep rise of the graph coming under the Blair adminstration. But remember this

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/sep/12/nhs-hospital-trusts-to-pay-out-further-55bn-under-pfi-scheme

Someone has to pay it back. In the tax payers case they still are. For a long time.

What will you do if a nurse treating you if you contract CV-19 and they voted Tory at the last election? Are you going to refuse to let her/him treat you and call them a hypocrite and make them feel guilty while they try to save your life?

What has happened in the past, is a debate I'm leaving alone.

With that said, it's now to the future. Are we going to invest, distribute without political interference across health, education, social care, the front line services et al?

This with the backdrop of individuals making sacrifice whether direct or indirect taxation, change in personal circumstances (pension, tax threshold etc). I don't have all the understanding of how all monies are raised but you get my jist....

Will you be willing to pay more? Will you make sacrifices to help (potentially) others?

Honest answer, no. Until i see changes to even little things like hospital staff having to pay to park in hospital car parks knowing the revenue is going to private firms then i won't pay another penny. If they can prove any extra i pay would go to fund front line services in A & E and social care then i would change my mind. But that won't ever happen.

Looking at those graphs I see a stark different between the 2 parties but I guess it comes down to your interpretation of the numbers and what you perceive to be “significant”.

Whichever way you look at it though, Labour have still evidently been more committed to funding the NHS than Conservative have. Can’t really blame doctors and nurses for despising them.

It’s clear all the public sector and the NHS have been criminally underfunded in the last decade. You don’t need to be an expert to see the results in front of our eyes. This hopefully is the tip of the iceberg and we see correct funding after this has all finished.

As @Hoochy-Min@Hoochy-Min said I won’t hold my breath. No one is asking for billions and billions we don’t have. The majority are asking for the correct funding for the threat and needs of today. The correct pay for these people who work in those sectors and not pay that’s hasn’t moved in a decade. We have the money as a country but we CHOOSE to spend it in other ways or not at all. It’s quite simple.

major started PFI, Labour didn't stop it.

its because many in the healthcare system were begging people not to vote tory after how they've treat the health service over the last decade and you went to do it anyway. we are on course to have the highest death toll in Europe, between us and America we are pretty much the worst responders and that even includes the brazilian nutter who keeps trying to open brazil back up. Nurses and healthcare professionals are having to make their own PPE out of fecking bin bags and subsequently dying because of it and yet according to people of your ilk boris is doing a good job. he got himself sick by ignoring his own advice, infected a load of top level decision makers and took them out of the job for a week if everything else wasn't avoidable enough. As has been mentioned prior, all of the negative parts to our response so far have been almost entirely avoidable had earlier warnings and cygnus been listened to. Hence why we've got the begging bowl out for various items we should really have enough of ourselves.

Add to it that they travel 1st class on trains and planes then no!

Plus they spend on equipment then change it by the weekend. It's a joke.

Money is wasted in the NHS and not enough money goes where it should do hence why we have trouble now protecting the people on frontline.

which is why it was important to be adequately prepared and not just be winging it.
