Reeves got Boyeson'ed.

 

If you guys mean the one in the first half - I think from a throw in where Reeves let it run across him, on ifollow it looked the right call to me. Reeves looked to have a yard or two of space, then their lad got the wrong side of him and Reeves clipped him.

 

When fit, he's largely fine. I'm perplexed as to what L2 right back you think is demonstrably better. Are you really saying that Mellor is now a lower League 2 level player? On what grounds? His fitness?

Not saying he's a world beater - but this is L2 and he's just put on a competent showing against the divisions form team of the last three months

Problem also is, that we seem to always think players aren't good enough for us - only for them to turn up at other clubs and look very good

 

I'm tempted to say that I cant recall many, if any worse right backs at City than Mellor. But we also have Adam Henley on the books.

Hopefully both get binned off in the summer.

 

What does 'demonstrably' mean at this level though?

Are you saying Mellor is 'demonstrably' the best defender in League Two?

 

Stop wasting your life trying to argue if Mellor is a decent footballer. You must have better things to do?

 

No. I'm saying, that he's good enough to be part of a promotion challenging one.

Too many seem to just love tipping all our players in the bin marked rubbish - it'd be good, when reviewing a match, if for once a player was judged on that 90 minutes, as opposed to the previous 90 days

 

Who said anything about been 'decent'? And it's a debate isn't it? Sorry if I disagree with the constant carping about virtually every player, match in match out - regardless of performance

 

I just think we got a terrific result today. We needed a win after the last two games, and against a tough opposition we’ve got a great result. They couldn’t handle Connolly at all. And Reeves took charge in the middle and ran the show in that area of the pitch. Good stuff, City.

 

I'd say your memory is failing you or has been spoilt by the admittedly far better Darby and McMahon years.

Let's get something straight here, I'm not saying he's the best, but he was involved in 7 out of the 8 wins we had that took us to 2nd, before more injuries occured. We must have had some star right backs in the memorable 2008 to 2012 spell, to say nothing about our time in the late 70's / early 80's for Mellor to be deemed so poor

Let's be honest. He's another who get's in the neck for the last two years. No-one gets any support. Play a couple of bad matches and that's it in some eyes. Play a decent match against a decent side and your still shite

 

Just a pity that we didn't put that one on one with the keeper away in the first 5 minutes of the second half. If that had gone in it was game over and would probably have been a walk in the park.

We've had a lot of shite over the last 10-15 years granted. And we've probably had others who've been as bad. But who's been worse? In possession he's awkward, hes not quick, doesn't get forward and cant cross a ball, he backs off and gives the opposition space, he doesnt really get stuck in. What does he do? Some half arsed long throws and he's tall? That's about it. He's one of many that need replacing.

Henley's worse though.

Well I feel silly now, sort of, went City 1 Plymouth 4 in prediction league with Akpan to score. Just couldn't see a win with that team we put put. That said, reading around, at 11 v 11, it seemed we were playing well. So well done to the lads, can we have some more of that please?

Apparently Connolly was going down easy all afternoon...but he does say that Connolly delivered for the first goal and scored from a free kick for the second.....

 

I personally thought we were quite solid until Mellor went off.

 

If he thought they bossed the first half he wasn’t there that was city’s most comfortable half of the season. They were much better second half with a weakened team but left a lot of openings that would have put the game to bed for us.
