Ok, they say the table doesn't lie but div 2 does at the minute.

Take about Doyle form Swindon and Swindon are nothing! Utter pants as shown when you came to VP!

He's scored 65% of of your goals. Now, I am not saying we should be top but seriously we've been playing rubbish and 4th with a game in hand.

We take Doyle back then you all know that's your chances of going up automatically are done with!

So Power needs to stop playing games and find big money or it's the play offs for Swindon because we will be taking him back.

Desperate Swindon! Show us the money!

You Swindon lot are very worried about losing Doyle aren't you.
And being very condescending whilst you're at it.
Unlike many City fans I don't particularly want him back.
However, it will be most amusing if we were to recall him ( and we've an owner with deepish pockets if he chooses to) just to see your smug posts dry up as you lose your talisman

    Fordy do ev

Take doyle from Swindon and... you take the league's top goal scorer away, but there is a squad behind him.

The thing here is mate, I don't make assumptions about your team, I haven't seen them play. I see Swindon play every home game and can say with absolute certainty that we will be fine if you take him back, not as many goals but every time we go forward we expect to score, we don't hope to score, as we are making so many chances. You played us when we had a metric feck ton of first teamers out with injury early in the season during a bad run of form and confidence was low, annoyingly you are playing us Saturday with us in the same position, we are 4 defensive players down. But this time around we are confident, playing very attacking football with the wind up our tails.

You can demand 250k for Doyle all you want, but you won't get it, and if we don't pay a stupid amount of money for him and let him go back so be it. I can't say with any certainty we will find another striker to score goals as consistently as he does but any striker worth his salt would want to play in a team that creates as many chances as we do. Even half his goals would be good enough.

think it’s the swearing they might be taking out?

122 pages on this thread and still nothing. Think it will be sorted after Saturdays game. I hope we are shopping for a striker personally.
Shake hands with Doyle and thank you very much for raising us some funds when he goes. It didn’t work for him here and sometimes that’s the way it goes. surely he will have a barren spell at some point in front of goal? Otherwise he’s on for 40+ in this league? Can’t see it myself

Come on mate your shipping players out to be able to afford him any player who is knocking goals in like Doyle is absolutely integral to a promotion push its what separates the teams that go up top from everyone else. Don't kid yourself that your management team aren't desperate to keep him even if they don't say it publicly.

If he isn't with you you've no idea how it will affect the rest of the squad or your season but I highly doubt loosing him will have a positive impact. Genuine question have you another player who can get into the positions he has and finish like him?

It doesn't really matter what we say on a forum but if we don't push you guys for a decent fee and try and pull your pants down our chairman wouldn't be doing their jobs right for us.

We can ask all we want and you can pay all you want. However, if Doyle wants to see his contract out rather than sign another now, bargaining between us is pointless. As for injuries, I am confident that no one has actually had more than us, coupled with illness. We just have to get on with it. No need to worry about missing defenders, you won't need them Saturday. Yesterday for 70 mins, we made Morecambe look to be in a higher position than you.

    Sorry, just seen this.

There are a couple of your points I don’t necessarily understand.

    1. I believe both Bowyer and Rupp have mentioned that conversations are ongoing and I would assume that includes him coming back.
    2. If he did come back, surely as Europe’s top scorer and a player in very hot form, we would want to play him up top as a striker and not as a targetman or no10?
    3. Why would Swindon ‘play hardball’? They will surely be desperate to keep him and would do everything they could to make it happen. I can’t see them just walking away and signing someone else that could cost them promotion.

I can't be the only one at the Mansfield & Morecambe hoof-a-thons who thought of Doyle, wondered if he'd make a positive difference to us, and decided, nope!

Poor bloke, he's 31 & having the season of his life, he'd be suicidal within a month back at VP. No point in all this falling out over a player who doesn't suit us (& vice versa) and who's going anyway.

There are 4 promotion places up for grabs not 1. Let the bloke go, maybe for the rest of his contract cash + back pay (full wages) for the time Swindon have had him, payable now and with a bonus to be paid if they go up. Winners all round.:)

This why we hold all the cards. 200k -250k or bye.

He won't sign for Swindon yet though and that's the issue I bet.

in answer to the first part they have just said discussions, yes we might want to call him back but we would only do so if we decide that is the option we want to take
    2) if he comes back hopefully he will be played in a position to make the best use of him
    3) they could play hardball because if we have called him back and then offer to loan him back again they know we don’t want to play him so we have no other option but to loan him back to them, this puts them in a better position to negotiate

Cant see Swindon paying 200k for him, we should ask for 100k and get rest of his wages off the wage bill (that could save another few thousand depending how much were paying of his wages now maybe 6 months of contract at 2k a week 400k saved in wages approx). We could sign Connelly and cooke on perm deals with that money. Then ship out players like akpan,Devine, release hornby maybe send palmer back and 2 players of quality. We need quality not quantity now

I think you missed my point mate. Bowyer never wanted to lose Doyle and it was only down to a lack of funds that he reluctantly did. I’m sure he’d love to bring him back if finances allowed.

And why would we bring him back and then want to send him out again? Even if Bowyer wanted to start Donaldson and Vaughan (very possibly), you can’t tell me that having Doyle on the bench is worse than McCartan and/or Oteh?

I seriously believe that if he did come back, Power would be on the phone to Rhodes daily, especially if their goals started to dry up. Bargaining increased not lessened. No?

If we agree to sell him before his contract ends, would we still have to pay him a fee? They are entitled to certain fees, such as signing-on when they join and don’t they get one for staying the full term of their contract too?

Any deal made needs to factor this in, if such a clause exists
