With AOC starting the season pretty well I'm not as concerned as I would have been last season. Vaughan could be a blessing in disguise as it gives us a look at our other options in McCartan and Oteh.

 

Will Vaughan being out allow him Bowyer to play the lone striker, we know Donadlson's game is about holding the ball up which will allow others to get into the box.
Personally I would prefer Oteh playing along side Donaldson a little & large scenario ?.

 

I'd rather McCartan to be honest, Oteh looks no better than Patrick.

 

At least Oteh looks mobile. McCartan has had his chances and failed to impress so the least we can do is give a proper striker a go.

Can you imagine the lack of cutting edge with McCartan playing just behind Donaldson? I reckon even Zesh Rehman might have looked competent against those two.

 

I'm no mccartan fan by any means but from what I've seen of oteh so far I'm not sure he's any better. Either way it highlights how weak that area is after vaughan and Donaldson.

 

I think the point is that we KNOW McCartan hasn't offered much where's Oteh is yet to start so perhaps there's more to come from him with a starting role.

 

Don't agree with that, he's had chances in his cameos and if he continues to get chances over 90 minutes, there's a chance he'll get the job done.

Wells was a useless substitute early on - it was only when he was starting games that he really shone.

 

True, but I can only judge him on what I've seen so far and he hasn't exactly impressed. To be honest the main reason I'd go with McCartan is so we can maybe play a bit down the middle and offer something different rather than constantly looking to get the ball wide.

 

How have you formed that opinion on his game time at Bradford City ?.

 

He was awful against Man city u23 last week where Patrick looked the better player and he was anonymous on saturday barring a soft shot straight at the keeper. I know it's not a lot to judge him on but it's all we have and based on what I've seen so far I'd go for McCartan.

 

Im presuming you also saw McCartan against Man City then? I honestly don't remember him touching the ball and completely forgot he was playing for the most part. We ended up withdrawing him while still chasing the game and he still didn't make the team on the Saturday. Kind of says it all to me.

 

Yeh, McCartan was poor too and I don't rate him but I think the position he plays may give us an extra option rather than playing a flat front 2 again.

 

I can see the thinking, the problem is McCartan himself. He just isn't effective and has no impact whatsoever when he plays. I'd rather give Gibson a game in there if that's the system he wants to use. At least he'll get on the ball and shoot when he gets the chance.

 

I think devitt has been a huge loss personally, especially for that role. We've lost any sort of creativity from central positions.
