When the managers first comment is to praise a winger's work rate I'm saying he'll be Will Atkinson-esque.

 

He must be good surely as GB has now signed him twice, never heard of him so won't judge til he's played for us at least, I'm just happy to lose another of last seasons absolute fkn losers.

I've been reasonably impressed with Scannell so far this season but imagine he'll have been on a very good wage. This guy won't and if he's hard working can play in a few positions and deliver in a good cross that'll do me. For me Scannell seemed a bit of show pony, always had to try beat his man and take it to the by line. Whilst that can be exciting to watch someone not bothering with tricks and turns and putting in a good early cross can be just as effective.

Granted it's at non league but Pritchard seems to have good ability and 6 goals for a winger is not bad.

Hopefully on the money saved shipping out a high earner we can look at midfield (oh for gary Jones mark 2...) and credible back up for Donaldson and Vaughan

 

We massively overspent last year. We need value for money. If we are spending big bucks on wages they need to deliver and not be injured. We are not getting the most exciting players in but Bowyer knows them so can work out what we’re getting.

Scannell was on just under £5k per week. Mutually agreeing to cancel his contract has affectively saved the club £250k+.

As much as I wanted Scannell to prove the doubters wrong, there was always going to be that niggling concern over recent injuries.

His replacement, Harry Pritchard, will be a relatively unknown quantity amongst footballing fans. Looking at his stats, it certainly does fill you with confidence that he could well be a very good replacement for Scannell.

Although not boasting much league experience, he did have (IMO) a very good debut season in the EFL.

His stats:

50 app - 6 goals - 3 assists in all comp.

If he can replicate last season’s form in the league below, I would argue that Blackpool have drawn the shorter straw.

Only time will tell, though.

 

Both Doyle and Scannell going were decisions the club had to make, from a economic view first and foremost and secondly because neither player had contributed to the level we expected. We can't afford to have players like that in league 2, just a shame there's one or two others we can't get rid of.

 

Spot on Tarty. No point in wanting the players we thought we had bought, let them go save money, no brainier. We will just have to see how the replacements do.
