I love city, love football, love the drama of the season but am I the only one who misses a full length summer. There was something fitting and proper about the season starting in September. It meant that returning to school and the end of the holidays was tempered by looking forward to getting down to Valley Parade again. I can't help thinking too that kicking off in early August isn't that great for teams either. It doesn't allow time to properly assemble and prepare your squad, it shaves off time from training and prep (and we all know how much our players need a good pre-season). Is this another area where the changes to the sport best suit big clubs with large squads and lots of money?

I'm not so sure. He's a great impact player to bring on if we need more pace or a formation change.

What the subs bench does show is that without Ismail/another forward we don't have many options to change the formation in an attacking way or have many attacking options.

 

Without being all doom and gloom, the bench doesn’t look great. Highlights the need for a couple more....

 

I can't recall one starting in September ?
However, it was better when KO was during the 3rd week of August.
The change I don't like is the first round of the league cup ...... Now being played before teams have 'gelled'.

Agree. There'll all sort of solid dependable players. We lack impact/attacking players and given most teams will probably come and park the bus we need more of those.

No technical difficulties when they took my €50 yesterday. Not a hitch there.

Very average half. Lacking in rhythm and balance. I don’t understand the thinking tactically. Having Doyle in the hole and Vaughan and Donaldson as split strikers doesn’t really get the best out of any of them. The only half chances came from a long ball which Donaldson nodded down to Vaughan, and the ball over the top to Vaughan, but they need to be my closer together. No width or penetration. Gibson anonymous, as is Doyle - who’s fallen over whenever the ball is near him and Anderson is gash. Those positions need strengthening.


We don’t look to have any penetration or creativity about us
