Says a lot about some of the people on this forum that we have an argument about whether today was a good thing.

I was in the Kop too and I only saw Liverpool shirted fans cheer and clap. Great banter between the groups and guess what . . . football and the Darby Rimmer Foundation was the winner. It's only a game, some things are more important than the game and it was a friendly with the CL winners !

Maybe when you are OlderNath, you might read this back and realise what a daft post it was.

We can but live in hope.

Easy to jump to that assumption, but you don’t know the context. Maybe he’d had a call from home and had to leave for a personal emergency? Maybe he was injured and had been told to leave to head to the training ground or a medical site for treatment? Maybe he’d had a call from his agent and has a move lined up and the club gave him their blessing to leave immediately to sort things out?

Plymouth have apparently signed someone this weekend that they can't reveal until tomorrow after he's travelled down for his medical. Probably another ex Bury player but you never know.

There is no reason to take that attitude with him to be honest, everybody knows the situation at the club last season and how players hated being there, he said himself that the whole club has changed and how he is enjoying being back, as for the reason he left today i don't know and by the sound of it neither do you, so i suggest backing off until you know the reason why.

I'd like to highlight that it doesn't particularly bother me I just don't understand it at all.Friendly or no I'm there to support city so unless its a belter of a goal I dont clap when the other team scores. If you call any of the goals scored today belters worthy of applause then I'd say you're a dafty yourself. I don't understand what's daft about not wanting to clap the other team when they score lol, haven't they got fans to do that? Obviously with the occasion being what it was there was ample opportunity to show appreciation for both sides and togetherness before and after the game but clapping their goals is daft to me.

Also in hindsight I fully appreciate what you mean and want to be clear that to be insensitive in that way wasn't my intention at all. I apologise for that massively as the last thing I want to do is show disrespect to what Darby's going through.

Well, why not just let folk clap that want to, and they’ll happily let you not clap if you choose not to. Maybe they have plausible reasons as to why they do it, that at the moment are seemingly above your understanding? Each to their own, friendlies are totally different to competitive games.

That's why I said it doesn't particularly bother me, I'm not running round VP telling em to stop am I? This is a place to discuss and offer opinions and thats just my two cents on it.

I thought today was a superb turnout very moving at times and fans where tremendous showing there feelings and respect. I also think the City team put the effort in I do not think any player deserves criticism on a day like today. We can push on now and get ready for the first game of the new season which I think could be quit a good one.
Finally Bingley Bantams well done with the coat of paint and tidying up you have done in the Bantams Bar. When you get back to finish off, don’t forget to fill the pin holes in and touch up and that bloody hand dryers still not working. :eek2:
