I have no problem with people rating Hanson but even in his prime he was decisive at best. Why anyone would him now that he's completely flushed up is beyond me. He left us on the decline and hasn't pulled up any trees at any of the clubs he's played for since. If we were after any other 1 in 10 striker who's name wasn't James Hanson you'd all be up in arms.

 

I'd welcome Hanson back. We know he'd be settled in the area, there's never been any assertion he's a disruptive influence in the dressing room and he'd be a much needed physical presence up front. Ok, it's a step backwards maybe and its unlikely he's improved as a player at all, but we've gone backwards too and sometimes you have to be pragmatic and accept where your at.

 

I would genuinely rather have Akinfenwa than James Hanson back. and thats saying something.

 

Behave mate. Come on, you can't be serious!? I'm not desperate for Hanson back but Akinfenwa? Hanson's younger, more mobile (moderately!) one of our own and at least remotely resembles a professional footballer..

Made 7 signings and announcing their 8th at 4pm. Just signed McCormack from Luton

 

Nicky Adams has gone there, plus 6'5 striker Harry Smith. The names they are signing look decent on paper, but as we found out last year, names on paper mean absolutely bugger all.

 

James Hanson last 2 seasons,
54 apps 5 goals

Ade Akinfenwa last 2 seasons,
86 apps 25 goals

(I could go back further but Akinfenwa hit 18 goals the season before so it makes the stats look even worse for Hanson).

Anyway, I'll have the one that apparently can't move and doesn't look like a professional footballer please.

 

Over the past 3 seasons, James Hanson has scored a total of 5 goals. In the same time, Akinfenwa has 42.

Agree with you and FB on this one, I was terrified about thought of playing him against Northampton in the play off final. I think the game would have been a bit more competitive had Akinfenwa started instead of Platt.

 

They don’t have Enid Radish playing championship manager though....

That could well prove to be true, Jon. But let's not forget Shrewsbury, from two years ago. Maybe Northampton fancy their chances, in what will be a shit league (which speaks volumes of our own decline). I can't honestly say I'd sign up any player they have - but I'd certainly swap our league position
