That's pretty much my position. The way things have gone I think this summer really is the last chance saloon for them. It's plain they need to spend a good amount of money, maybe not as much as Grayson was asking but the pitch and the squad need a lot of attention. Add to that getting the right management team in.

They simply have to get this one right. If we get to Christmas and things aren't going well and we haven't seen anything improve then the club is down the toilet. There'll be even less fans at VP and their investment will be worthless.

I can quite easily see me getting involved in a fans protest group if that becomes the case. But for now I'm just going to see what happens.

That plus it’s a comparatively big stadium which is expensive to run and maintain. Many teams in our position don’t have these costs. Also we have nothing to borrow against

We had no infrastructure when they bought the club, as you say no ground of our own, no training ground of our own, the only assets were any players we could get a transfer fee for, or the clubs registration with the football league yet they did due diligence and still bought the club, with regards your second comment is that comment aimed at past owners or present owners ?.

 

Well put. Just one thing though they didn't inherit anything about the club, they bought it. We were lead to believe they were good businessmen so I would presume they undertook thorough due diligence that should have highlighted these things. So either they didn't do the correct due diligence, they did but didn't understand the implications on the football side or they were fully aware and went into it with their eyes open. Whichever it is it isn't great on their part (or ours unfortunately!)

 

Or they could have a longer term plan of building the club slowly bringing youth through and slowly improve our infrastructure and eventually buy the ground back

 

Pomfret, or anyone else, correct me if I am wrong but I understood that the shop was coming back into our hands next season. I think the catering contract also ends this season. I hope for something better next season.

Dave Baldwin bought the rights to the advertising, it might have come back in house at some point but there has been no statement to confirm that.
