The second trialist is probably the young, full back, ex-Donny lad who was mentioned yesterday. Hopefully Tom Clare is also getting run-out as well so a number of these young players get the chance to show what they might be capable of.

 

Other clubs have done ok picking up young lads from non league so why can’t we. This lads got a few clubs chasing him so he must have something about him. Jamie Vardy and Lee Gregory haven’t done to bad and plenty more besides who have stepped up from non league.

well, I'd sooner we be focusing on bringing in players that are first team ready and battle hardened for a league 2 campaign than these pet projects, but there's no major harm in having a look I suppose if he's free.

 

Chris Smalling wouldn't have been a bad signing from Hednesford.

But I'm sure some would have said we needed more ambition, despite a lot of interest from good sides.

Hopefully he's as good as Meredith, another non league defender.

 

Just have a look at the Blackpool programme and see who their players previous clubs were. You know the team that took us to the cleaners the other week. The team that GB predominantly put together. A fair few of them were from non league backgrounds. Maybe, just maybe, they are/were prepared to fight for every ball/make every tackle as they wanted to prove to their manager, their fans and the world in general that they could play and could win football matches. Don't recall seeing that too often by players wearing claret and amber this season.

 

Just as the club will have to act realistically so should supporters. Plucking non league players out has worked well for many clubs......maybe over the years we've not done it enough

 

It's down to good scouting let's hope Bowyer has a good network

 

I remember Marco Sas, scored an absolute screamer in a friendly .......... Although OK, he was not good enough to cut it when needed. We need better than just OK.
